I'm seeing a large amount of these types of profiles. I know they're active based on posting activity so they aren't simply profiles that have been deleted. Is there something on my end that's keeping me from viewing their profile? I find it hard to believe that I've pissed off that many people into blocking me or that many people fear revealing their profiles to me!

You're hot and people are jealous.
Well, that's what I tell myself when I see that. icon_lol.gif

Hey tongun18, if you go to preferences (on the ochre bar above, right below 'Who's Online' and click , you'll go to the pref. page where you scroll down. You'll see an option to temporarily hide your profile from everyone. icon_wink.gif

I thought of mentioning that, but I like the "I'm just too hot" idea better. icon_lol.gif

I REALLY doubt you're being blocked at least not personally.

If you were raised with siblings... you know those situations
when you were a kid... "Ohhh Mom.. He's looking at me again!"

Now their adults and still doing it... although now...
they're standing around the corner... When you're a kid it is called spying.
When you're an adult in is called lurking.
Anyone who doesn't have a Profile picture or it is hidden...
    This should be the default:

There is a difference between hidden members and deleted members. Deleted members have either been deleted by the administrators or have chosen to leave the site. Hidden members are still here but are choosing to hide their profiles. There is not much integrity in hiding your profile but continuing to make posts in the forums. Just today, one of these people with a hidden profile directed this post at a well known member- "seriously just shut the fuck up. you're annoying as hell." Rude on it's own, but even more so when it is said by someone who does not the courage to keep their profile visible.

Perhaps we should request that the RJ administrators block someone from posting in forums when they hide their profile. If possible, maybe their previous posts would not show up in forums while they have their profile preferences set as 'hide'. They can't IM while their profile is hidden, so why should they be able to post in forums?

I've seen something similar, hidden profiles getting rather rude and disrespectful at other. It doesn't seem right, I would agree that hidden members should not be allowed to post on forums.

I'm getting more and more agitated by this. It's really not fair that people can remain hidden and yet attack visible profiles on threads here. How does one petition RJ to change this?

tongun18, it's done this way. See the help key in the upper right corner below
    "Who's Verified"?

Jot down the name of the hidden profile - you get this by hitting quote on one of their posts and you will see who the poster is.

Copy the link to the topic where they are attacking others.

Hit the help key. Write up a complaint to admin and tell them the poster's name, and paste in the link to the topic in question that you copied earlier.

The more guys that do this the faster it is to a speedy resolution.

    If you need, email me.

I am not a fan of the the no pic and no info profiles, but the hidden profiles are even worse. They can say anything they want, but by being hidden it is as if they have put the entire site on block. Communication seems to only go one way when it should be a two way street if you are going to post in forums. When they say anything offensive or harassing you can't go to their profile to report them (except for going through the extra steps Doug explained), you can't block them, and you can't put their posts on ignore.

    Hi guys,

I'm going to change the forum functionality so that posts from hidden members no longer show up.

I'll have it done by the end of the weekend.

    Thanks,

Could make for some funny threads.

Even more RJers will become intimately familiar with the non-sequitur. icon_biggrin.gif

This seems fair. What's the point of having a hidden profile? Why not take it a step further and only allow posts of "verified" profiles to be visible? This would eliminate multiple personalities of the same poster zooming into threads and wreaking havoc.
