This might be a stupid question (because I overlooked the section) but is there a section of the site where members can organize group meetups for different regions or cities? Like having some sort of sporting event or hanging out as a small group.

It's nice talking to on the forums online but having some sort event might be a good idea to get to know people better. Just a thought.

You should have plenty of guys to meet up with in the New York City area. What I suggest is to look on the left hand side of the home page here and see the profiles of the other guys in your area and e-mail them about a meet up somewhere.....maybe a central location like dinner at South Street Seaport or somewhere cool in Brooklyn or lower Manhattan.....Something like that should work...

Wish I were in NYC and I would join in! My favorite place on earth!

/ Yeah, sometimes people say they're going to come and then no one shows up. Flaky people will be that way online or off.

I'm not organizing anything, I'm just thinking it might be a good idea for like minded people from this site to get together for some sort of fun event.

turtleneckjock, there are plenty of guys in NYC to meet (I'm not talking about sites like Manhunt). Some speculate 1/3 of the guys here are gay or bi and it's a very social city. But people in NYC are also very busy most of the week so it's a matter of timing and being in the right place.

But I'm not to sure about going to bars or places alone A bit awkward and I'm still researching the whole "scene" and getting familiar hangout spots for people around my age. Anyway, that's another discussion.

A few weeks ago a thread was active concerning Regional Folders which would facilitate organizing meet ups. There were a number of comments including suggestions on how the folders should be organized. RJ (Chris) was open to the idea. After the organization was fairly well finalized, I sent it to Chris.

Try going to meetup.com and see if there is anything there. I have joined a couple of groups from this site and have met some great people. I joined a gay men hiking group, an adventure group that is both gay and straight and a gay businessmen group. Keeps me busy and out of trouble most of the time.

we've been fairly successful in dc. i've met up with several people for dinner on multiple occasions. it all depends on the personalities involved.

I think it's better to do it on a city-level. And in heavy populated places like NYC, you might want to specify the type of meeting to spark interest... run in the park, dining out, theatre, basketball tournament, etc. An event application similar to Facebook's would be a great new feature for RealJock. Hmm, they could do well with a mobile phone app too coupled with a Grindr-like plugin.
