Ok guys just wondering what you think about this....

In my gym there are a number of guys who in the locker room after their shower walk out naked then proceed to go over to the mirror and dry their hair completely naked. Well some of them dry their whole body with hair dryer but some only dry hair then go back to locker and towel off.

Im sorry I just dont get it! Im in no way prudish about lockerroom nudity, I'm not one of these guys who put my underwear on under my towel or anything. I played a lot of team sports as a teenager and male nudity is perfectly normal for me but like drying your hair first when completely naked in front of a lot of people.

    What do you guys think??

Yes dude if I'm not mistaken I think there was another similar post about this. Guys drying their balls with a hairdryer, walking around with no towel as if it's their own bathroom, etc.

Not cool, that's why I don't shower at the gym lol

I can understand where you are coming from, but it is a lockeroom first and foremost, especially if it is a gym membership and there are no rules about nudity, then a guy can do as he pleases. He should be able to feel comfortable enough at a gym locker room to be naked. (He is paying for this amenity) There are some people that feel more physically comfortable without anything on them, I don't feel comfortable having a towel on me when Im done showering and procedding to my locker, I still have the towel on, but thats because I'm not comfortable with other people.

Some guys might do it to be cruisy, flaunt their body, or just don't give a fuck.

I expect nudity in the lockerroom within the normal parameters, but agree that some guys really push the envelope. Not sure what's up with the blow-dryer fascination--don't towels pretty much do the trick?

I'm not sure that it's necessarily cruising. I've seen a lot of middle-aged, James Gandolfini-type guys (yep, gold chains and all), strutting around, proudly thrusting out their big bellies, letting it all hang out.

Why does it bother you? It's not like he's drying your balls. Do what you came for and stop starring.

When I was about your age it bothered me as well. Lately.....Who caresicon_rolleyes.gif It's a locker rm for crying out loud and everyone there has the option of showering at home. You also have the option of not lking, turning your head and not giving a shit. Now if you said he put the blow dryer up his ass, I'd say "you need be concerned"

I think part of the dynamic at the gym locker room is the opportunity for social nudity: the simple pleasure of seeing and being seen.

We've had a problem lately with queers trying to turn the gym into a bathhouse, advertising on craigslist for hookups in the sauna, and playing exhibitionist in the locker room.

Some of them go well beyond good taste, and not all of them are gay / bi.

The gym is a gym, first and foremost, and it shouldn't be used as a sexual meeting place.

Um, it's the gym locker room.
    People walk around naked.
As long as they're not rubbing up against anything you need to be touching it doesn't matter. I don't see why any of you think this is at all sexual. icon_rolleyes.gif

Little Buddy, I'm not homophobic, and, when you gain some maturity, you'll come to understand that you get a lot more flies with honey than vinegar. Your own ignorance betrays you.

If you act weird, you're going to be treated as such, and there are times, and places for everything. Gyms are NOT gay bath houses. They aren't swingers clubs either.

Decorum is important. You gain allies when you see likenesses. Are there straight guys posting ads for sex in the sauna at LA Fitness? Of course, not. It's creepy guys that don't know how to properly behave, and, that's my point.

That stuff doesn't belong in the gym. If you want to go to the bath house, then, go, and have all the anonymous sex, drugs, and multiple partners you want.

well in my gym there's a fair amount of middle eastern guys. The young ones don't care but the older ( and usually overweight ) ones actually shower with their underwear on. lol

over all guys shower ,dry up and loosely wrap a towel around their waist, then casually drop it to put on their underwear.
    it's kind of sexy !

i think drying their balls with a dryer is hilarious. They trying to get fluffy pube hair ? If they were consequential they'd spread their ass and also dry that hairy crack ! LOL

We have several elderly folks who blow dry their balls at the gym. They're all shrively and, honestly, it's a bit funny.

Nudity isn't dirty, nor deviant. It's just the human body, and, as someone who has been on ESPN in less than his underwear, I'm o.k. with that. What's creepy is the guys who think it's o.k. to run around for 20 minutes doing creepy things.

What's really bad is the pervs who ruin a good gym by trying to bring the sex component into the gym. I report those folks if I catch them. It has no place at the gym.

There's a marked difference in sensibilities from Europe (very uninhibited) and the Middle East (the other end of uptight). I suppose that the American Puritan culture is somewhere in the middle. A person should be uptight, I think, about what's natural, but, be sensitive to decorum in a given setting.

There are certain folks, I think, that take a certain deviant pleasure in the taboo / risque / being exhibitionist.

Standing in front of a mirror naked at a gym, drying yourself off is hardly inappropriate. Gimme a breakicon_rolleyes.gif

Sorry dude but you are homophobic. It happens in all minorities groups actually. In fear of being associated with the societal stereotypes one will bash his or her own minority.
I called you out for being homophobic not your stance on gym etiquette.
Once you gain more maturity you will realize that putting on falsehoods and facades are for the weak.

You're still wrong, and, it doesn't matter. You don't know any better.

As you mature, you'll understand that just because you CAN do something, doesn't mean that you should. You confuse revolting and acting out with being prudent and having good judgment. As your grow older, that WILL change, hopefully. Smart folks pick and choose their battles, and work towards consensus and understanding.

Here, on this site, you'll find my full legal name, pictures, etc. I've even been in the gay rag, and I am forerunner in showing folks that you don't have to be creepy to be gay / bi. I openly speak to folks, from all walks of life about it, including our clients.

You have much to learn. Ignorant folks don't know they're ignorant, and, that's the bliss of it, and, there you are.

Yeah, I'm confused by this. A locker room is where men are naked. I fail to understand the issue. Perhaps someone can explain it to me. icon_confused.gif

Presumptuous statements seems to be a common trait among people on here.
No, Im pretty sure Im not wrong. Most of what you said has nothing to do with you being homophobic.
Like you said ignorant people don't know they're ignorant.

I think what the OP means is about the "lurkers." What I brought up is the creepy guys that are trying to turn suburban gyms into bath houses / sex meeting places, and that's wholly inappropriate.

Any right-minded person knows that folks are naked in the locker room.

I think he was referring to your using the word "queers" earlier, not your objection to their activities. (At least I THINK that's what he meant...)
