Thoughts On My Diet? =P

    So... I'm on a diet, I wanna lose 2 stone. I'm currently 154 pounds at 5 ft 6. At the moment i'm just eating healthy, doing crunches - push ups ect then i'll be starting the gym with my buddy next week hopefully! But i'm wondering if what i'm eating is ok?

    Today i've eaten

    Breakfast: Bowl of oats, 4 spoons of natural vanilla yoghurt

    Snack: Apple

    Lunch: Tuna & Brown whole grain pasta

    Snack: Banana

    Dinner: 1 Chicken breast + vegetables and 3 potatoes

    I've drank alot of water too! Is what i've eaten ok or should i eat a little more/less ? icon_smile.gif

    It's probably worth writing down exactly what and how much you eat for a week. Then add up all the calories and compare those with the calories burned by your body through maintenance and activity (walking and gym). Fitday.com is free and will do this.

    The diet looks pretty good but without portion sizes it's hard to tell.

    Also, maybe you should consider a slightly altered goal. Losing 24 pounds on a 5'6'' frame to go down to 130ish pounds seems a bit extreme. You could concentrate on body measurements and bodyfat, rather than weight alone.

    Before you start take a picture and measure yourself. Stomach (at belly button), chest (nipple height), arms (bicep, flexed), thighs, and bum. That way you will be able to track progress even if you don't loose weight but you are building muscle.

    There are actually meal plans and workouts on this site which could help you with this.

    Try a site like dailyburn.com

    You put in your stats, what your goals are, and then it'll tell you how many calories and your fat, carb, protein % split you need to hit. As you enter your food it'll tell you how you're doing.

    BUT, 28 pounds seems like a lot of weight to want to drop when you weigh 154.

    Starving your body is more harmful then good. You have gradually lean yourself into a diet.

    3 Potatoes??? If tiny red ones cool, but if they're reg sized that's a bit much for one meal imo.

    Sounds carbsey to me. I'd add heaping amounts of green veggies throughout your entire day and more lean protein also spread throughout the day, starting with your breakfast.
