How can you tell if a guy is gay or not?

I look at body language. The way they move or facial emotions, also the way they respond to situations. I can usually pick most guys out. However, there are still a few who are complex, and hard to figure out. Each case is different.

I don't think anyone has good "gaydar" but rather they they are just good at guessing or assuming. I hear alot of people say stuff like "Oh I can tell by he's gay by looking at them." I think it's bogus. When I hear stuff like basically all I hear is someone wanting someone to be gay. What makes a person seem gay? is it the femmy way they might act or that slight high pitched voice they might have or is they way they hold a cup or a beer (pinky extended) or maybe just maybe they way they dress. All these are stereotypes. True, they have some merrit but they aren't definate clues to suggest the theory of someone being gay. I think this fabled "gaydar" is a feeling one gets when they see someone. Sometimes it's confused with attraction/horniness and other times it's 50/50 gamble in hoping and wanting. The best way to know someone is gay is when they end up doing certain things with you...that'll be your sign for sure. LOL.

I say kudos to those who "think" they have gaydar. I'll stick to the old "CFC" way (confrontation for confirmation) meaning a simple chat, a possible dinner/movie/social event, and then on to the bedroom. LOL.

Sometimes you can tell, sometimes you can't. If I can get close to the person it feels like I'm smelling it off them. I've never been wrong when I actually make a decision though more often I don't decide one way or the other.

Hahaha. I would test that theory.
No one can always be right unless they are somewhere where they are so many gays you can't shake a stick with hitting one. What makes people so sure they are always right? I have to wonder.

I will use myself as an exaample since I can't use anyone else. I'm am always confused with being straight. It baffles me. I don't act gay but I don't act straight either. I ack like a normal person. The funniest thing is when gay guys say to me "I thought you were straight." and then I hear them say they're gaydar was off. All lot of my gay friends didn't even know I was gay and open about it until they physically say me kissing a guy.

Um, actually, there is now a body of scientific research that there IS such a thing as "gaydar" based on pheromones. Just google it. I just did and this was the first thing to pop up:

Gay Men Are Found to Have Different Scent of Attraction

So that said, I think a lot of it has to do with a) being in tune to the subtleties that gay guys may not even be aware of. And if you personally don't give that off, then it may be that you're just naturally or subconsciously guarding yourself and, in essence, putting up a 'cloaking device.'

I've always said I was a "stealth" gay, that I fly undetected under the gaydar. Guess my phermones are the cause. I saw that article too, Gigaram. Cool stuff, huh?

Gay phermones. One more thing for the religious right to protest.

I have a HORRIBLE Gay-dar!!! Again, I don't believe ANY ONE is gay until they're on their knees in front of me.........

And even THAT I still won't necessarily believe they're Gay!!

    Just saying.....

There's no scientific study to back me up, but see if you agree with this. I find that straight guys have a hard time maintaining eye contact for more than a few seconds.

Gay men (and women) seem to be able to look in your eyes a LOT longer than straight men.

Try it with your straight male friends and see what happens.

Or the fact that gay guys have a tendency to look at other guys from the corners of their eyes. icon_wink.gif

It's easy. Take a sniff. If they smell like poppers and lube, you've got a gay!
