    Hey Guys,

So I'm currently in the market for a new laptop and I'm having a hell of a time trying to decide!!! I've been doing basic searches on the internet and getting a few opinions but there's a massive divide here between buying MAC or DELL! I've previously only owned PCs (usually dell), but I'm really starting to wonder about the advantages of a MAC.

Now let's be honest, I'm not a computer guy whatsoever. I wouldn't know a gigabyte from a USB Port and the only kind of RAM I know anything about are the ones with horns on their heads.

My needs are varied and somewhat scattered. I'm a performer and need to be able to edit video and sound recordings; I'm also an artist and need access to PhotoShop and various programs to edit photographs with. But, I need something with wordprocessing capabilities (I'm most comfortable using Microsoft Word) for some writing. I clearly surf the web so I need something reliable and that won't be attacked by virus' left, right, and centre.

Any advice would be most appreciated. Thoughts??

Check out, it's a technology/gadget website that reviews laptops, mobile phones, cameras etc.... They also have a top 5 best whatever which is good too.Toshiba and Asus are really good companies that make computers, I'm not a fan of Dell. If you're getting a Mac, you'll have to learn how their interfaces are set out but it shouldn't take long, it takes a bit to get used to.

For a new laptop get something with at the very least 2gb RAM, 250gb HDD (the only things I'm vaguely familiar with!) but most new laptops come with double that and download AVAST for the home, it's a free antivirus for the net and it's fantastic (you just have to reinstall it once a year and it's always free). I use Firefox instead of Internet Explorer as a web browser.

    hunni, get a MAC.
U can still get MS Word on ur MAC, that way ur still comfortable using that word processor.

I had PCs my whole life up until about 3 months ago when I got a MacBook Pro.

I def do not regret the decision at all and do not miss windows whatsoever.

If u wanna do recordings and photoshop MACs are ur best bet.
