So how clean is your apartment? Is it crazy clean, relatively clean, or a total wreck?

    Short Rant:

So I live with 3 other guys and we get along great and are really good friends but their cleaning habits drive me crazy. I am not a clean freak but this is ridiculous. I just left my room to go to the kitchen and literally in the middle of the hallway in the middle of the floor are one guys shoes...what in the world prompted him to take his shoes off in the middle of the hallway and leave them right there? After stepping over the shoes and a few other random items I make it to the kitchen and there is random trash and dishes all over the counter. Someone dropped a piece of fruit on the floor and left it there and obviously someone stepped on it and its currently just chill'n on the floor. There are sweaty gym towels on the sofa in the living room a long with random protein shake cups and bottles. There are half empty juice bottles in the strangest of places. I have seen some of the most disgusting things here but I love these guys...I think I need my own place though lol.

    Thanks for listening RJ

P.S. Sorry if this showed up twice but I completely forgot to put anything in the subject when I submitted it so I couldn't find it.

Pick up their stuff. Throw the trash away and hide their clothes etc. When they ask about their stuff, just ask "well, where was the last place your left it?" If they give an honest answer, like "in the middle of the hallway," give a puzzled look and say "why would you ever leave them there?" Voila, you have started a discussion about making a mere modicum of effort not to live like pigs.

Pretty much a total wreck. My partner downsized several times from rather large homes, and is still trying to hang onto stuff that won't fit in this typically small Florida condo, and totally overwhelms it.

I haven't even tried to bring any of my stuff in here, haven't seen my piano in nearly 4 years, which an ex-BF still has. About the only thing I have of my own are my clothes, a few trinkets, and the computer in this office, plus my bicycle.

But I'm in the post-possessions phase of my declining years, when I really don't care any more. It's that time of life when you realize your time of life is nearly over, and nothing you own is going into a museum anyway, nor destined for anyone, so why worry?

    Kitchen and bathroom: crazy clean

Living room: somewhat clean; to many books and had to bring the plants in.

Bedroom: somewhat clean; erratic schedules and spontaneous sex.

Our office: total disaster, boarding on "hording buried alive".

Sometimes people go through bouts of laziness and things turn into total chaos.

I know i have bouts of these. About a month ago i had to use 3 whole days to clean my apartment.

Most of the time i'm clean but i'm not OCD about it. If there's anything worse than a slob it's someone that's OCD clean.

I lived with 2 roommates who were total slobs...I'm a neat freak..and they were at the total opposite of the spectrum. One of the happiest days of my life was when I moved out.

TheGuyNextDoor saidI usually clean it all up and do the laundry on Saturday mornings... then I can have company most Sat. nights and anytime Sunday without looking like a slob..
Mon.-Fri. the dust bunnies reappear, things land where they may....
BUT! If I was going to have company over,, I could always whip it into shape in 15 if I had to...
Other than that,, it's called Saturday morning Rinse, Repeat!

This I honestly wouldn't mind. A quick 15min clean up means that your place is not bad at all. Thats like vacuum wash a few dishes and straighten up the table or something.

Been known to let things go a bit.

Then I get tired of dealing with the mess and go on an OCD streak for a few days to put everything to rights icon_biggrin.gif

I think we'd have to pay her an ungodly amount of money given what she'd have to deal with lol.

    OOoohhh!

Put quarters next to some of the items and see if they just pick up the quarter and not the trash and stuff.
