I don't really fit into this gym bunny culture going on here (cos I can't be bothered to go to the gym) so I was just wondering if anyone else was the same icon_smile.gif? Where are the boys that are 'au naturel' and aren't afraid to show it, c'mon there must be some!

That is true. But there are people on here whose main focus isn't fitness: like dating, hookups, friends, webcam etc.

I stayed out of the gym all summer. Used my snatches of free time to sail or bike. Catching up now, but yeah, if I had time to play outside every day, I might ditch the gym.

And the problem really isn't the not working out, but the disclosure that he doesn't do it because, well, he "can't be bothered to", which adds a caustic twinge of antagonism against those for whom it is an important facet of life.

I hate going to the gym too. I'd much rather be out snowboarding, skateboarding, mountain biking, etc. I really only go to the gym so that I can be better at the activities I like to do, and to keep my upper body at least somewhat caught up with my lower body from all my "leg activities." Besides, if I'm not out doing those sports, what else do I have to do with all that energy? icon_wink.gif

I don't work out. I've tried, but i am far too lazy to go to the gym all the time. However, I do try to run for at least 20 minutes a few times a week. I also put on at least 5 - 10 lbs during the winter because I get lazy to run in the cold as well. In the summer though, I get pretty fit just because I like to be very active outside. In fact, it amazes me how fast I lose the pounds I put on during winter just by playing tennis, swimming, rafting and hiking.

Does anyone know of any car forums where I can go and post that I don´t drive as I think it´s stupid and why do they spend so much time talking about cars and stuff?

I don't do hook ups at all - those were just examples of what other guys are doing on here.

I definitely see where you're coming from. I read my post again just now which I wrote at 3am last night - 'gym bunny' is not the most affectionate term; I could have worded the question in a more agreeable manner. I do apologize if anyone did get offended: the main objective of the thread was simply to find out if anyone here does not workout and there was no (intentional) antagonistic undertone to this thread. Besides, I've made some really great friends here on RJ who do workout so what reason would I have to outrightly offend them also?

As for posting a thread that seemingly goes against fitness on a pro fitness site, I understand that my motives for being here are naturally questioned. For me the keyword in 'Realjock Gay Fitness Health and Life' is the word 'gay' and this site has helped me to come to terms with my sexuality whilst making some excellent friends. Friends are why I'm here - nothing more, nothing less. So I am sorry if anyone deems me not suitable for being here although I am adamantly certain that RJ is much more than a fitness site: this is evident by the copious number of threads related to sexual, dating, and just general 'gay' issues.

I do apologize, but my question still stands.

Point taken. But I don't think going to the gym is stupid. Trust me.

I don't work out but I am a major tennis fan and fanatic player. I used to practice on my own for around 3-4 hours by myself and would train with other players. I love tennis because I am a naturally competitive person and love to directly compete with other people.

I have a routine intended to regain function in my paralyzed hand
What is very strenuous workout for me now would not be recognised as such unless you can imagine 30 minutes of intense concentrated effort to flap your ears.

(That is how I can best describe what the hand work out is like three times a week on the left side (just closing and trying to open my fingers)

It is physically very taxing and I use a dumbbell in my right hand as a counterweight exercise that gives some feeling of balance to the prolonged exertion.

I got all my weight gain tips here. icon_smile.gif

This is a great site to help keep motivated too.

Oh and because of that I've made a few really fun pen-pals too. icon_biggrin.gif

However, I do agree that a lot of people on here are obsessed with the gym...
Also, the gym doesn't count as a sport thus gym rats are not athletes...icon_redface.gif

See the bold? That's describing a really good workout.

We don't go to the gym. We do work out. The house, the yard, Mom's acreage (farm), those horses, our kayaks, and I could go on but you get my drift.

    -Doug

As for those saying go somewhere else in reference to Gbob's words about hook-ups dating etc - the site is being publicly advertised that way all over various sites, so do complain to admin rather than take it out on Gbob.

Spend some time looking at profiles and you'll see many many many of them say hook-up, dating etc etc etc.

@ Gbob, so why did you stop with the tennis workouts?

Oh please. Guys, fit or not, are going to hook up for sex, friendship or pen pals. What they do is their business, not ours.

And by the way, this site is open to EVERYONE and is not limited to sports-minded gays. If you have a problem with someone who is NOT like you, I suggest that you use the 'Ignore' button, get along with the 'mismatch' or take your business ELSEWHERE!

I'm not a big gym person either, but I do Tae Kwon Do 3-4 times week, including two sparring classes. And I compete in tournaments.

So, you needn't go to the gym to work out or weight lift. There are many guys on here who do martial arts, or run, or do other sports and recreational activities as exercise and sport.
