Is that murse? I would backhand the person (unless you make tons of money) that buys that shit. It is more expensive than the things that would go in it. Its not even water resistant!

I'm not a PRADA fan. The bags are not that functional. If you're gonna go big, go REALLY BIG.

For that price I could get a couple dozen (at least) backpacks and rucksacks and duffel bags from a combination of L.L. Bean or military surplus which would be 100x more useful, plus I wouldn't have to surrender my balls. icon_cool.gif

Yeah, I just got a small OD green canvas shoulder bag from the HRC store while in P-town, a courier-dispatch style with a big flap. I wish I still had my US Army version, lots of officers used them in the field for light duties when a backpack was too much.

As for Prada, last month I decided to replace my inexpensive nylon hip wallet because it seemed to have begun messing with the magnetic strip on my cards. So I figured I'd have to try leather, which I normally avoid.

I went into Neiman Marcus in Fort Lauderdale, where the men's accessories clerk immediately started pulling attitude on me. When I asked for hip wallets, he sniffed at me: "Hip wallet? Oh, do you mean a man's billfold?"

Look, buddy, I'm buying it, and if I choose to call it a damn pocket portfolio you'll find me one, OK? So I'm already not in a good mood. Well, he showed me some Prada and Gucci in the style I like, but at $400 I didn't see that the quality was all that superior to something lesser.

So I went down to Macy's and found some perfectly serviceable leather wallets at a fraction of the Prada price, plus on a nearly half-off sale! Well thank you, snotty Neiman Marcus sales person. You just saved me a bundle. icon_biggrin.gif

Good Lord! That much for a murse? I bought one at Zara for $15 that looks very much like a Prada black nylon murse and it is fabulous.

On a side note, Neiman Marcus leaves much to be desired!

Prada is partly known for its nylon bags or ready-to-wear. I personally don't like the bags. I prefer the Saffiano or perforated leather.
That said, I don't like tote bags. I love men's bags, but I think that only weekend/boston/duffle bags and messenger bags look good on men. Otherwise it just looks so feminine.
Duffle bag is, in my opinion, the best choice cause it looks like a gym bag.

My advice would be : Sleep with a prada sales guy to use his discount. haha
Plus, men who work at Prada, Miu miu, Louis Vuitton, etc, are always cute and gay.

FYI, I don't do that haha, but I do know a lot of people in fashion so I can get discount pretty much everywhere...

Rather too big for a murse, and those top handles with bright hardware don't belong on one. On a laptop carry case, yes, or in this instance, for a shopping bag as it says. But men really don't take shopping bags with them, at least not that I've seen in the US.

cmhoh1985 saidOn a side note, Neiman Marcus leaves much to be desired!

When my late partner lived in Houston he regularly shopped the Neiman Marcus there, in the Galleria just like the one here is. But the Houston store is much better than Fort Lauderdale, which is rather ordinary, for all their attitude. There's another N-M 30 miles north in Boca Raton, that has a nice restaurant, though, a feature all the better department stores once had years ago.

Well, when we later moved from Houston to a place without a N-M he would get their catalog and shop by phone. You probably know their Christmas catalog is outrageous, and always includes some items with at least 6-figure price tags. He wouldn't get me those, needless to say, but at least a few items for Christmas each year, kind of his tradition as he saw it.

And whenever I unwrapped a present and saw the Neiman Marcus box, I'd know something extravagant was inside. Fortunately he had good taste, and practical, too, so I didn't mind my being spoiled a little, just once a year, and made sure not to learn about the price, that likely would have depressed & embarrassed me.

Holy crap! It's soooo tempting but it would be stupid to buy it knowing that I'm invited to Yves Saint Laurent Prive next week lol

That was very sweet of him to do for you! But yes, the Neiman Marcus in Fort Lauderdale is very ordinary although it makes up for that with plenty of attitude. The service at the Neiman Marcus in Coral Gables is less snooty! The one in Houston is very, very nice and very, very big; it is Houston after all.

No offense to Prada (LOVE the shoes!), but if im going to shell out that much cash, I want it made with leather. And I dont care for totes.
On the other hand, TOM FORD makes really cool leathergoods. And Shoes, OMG! icon_biggrin.gif

that bag seriously looks like a piece of crap.
doesn't look like a crowned piece in terms of aestethics and quality...though the price suggests it.

...a lot of these ridiculously priced designer items, are nothing but another version of the emperors new clothes.

cold saidI'm not a big fan of the 'European' sort of style...

Pretty broad term. Theres lots of style differences in different European countries. Best example of france is Heidi Slimane, Riccardo Tisci and Karl Lagerfeld aesthetic when he was with Dior homme, same with Balmain.
Uk is epitomized by the Burberry look.
And Italian is Fendi, and Versace, both offering two perspectives of Italian fashion.

Personally I wouldnt be a fan of american fashion, that is fashion shown in America. There are exceptions though like Donna Karan Tom Ford and a few others who have strong emphasis on structure and good tailoring.
Marc Jacobs though Im not too keen on. Especially his stuff for Vuitton which is supposed to be a French brand. Its very Banal.
Although I did like his A/w 2010 show for his own label.

    Suuuuuuuuuuure you don't. icon_wink.gif

I've seen a couple of guys with these large bags but what do they actually carry around in them? It seems like a bit much just to go shopping or for a stroll.
..and no... they don't put the things they purchase in them- I know that much. icon_smile.gif
