Arnold s. Is on the front of muscle & fitness again this month. Its 1 of his old body building pics in his traditional, some what short, thin cotton gym shorts.

Of course thats what the guys wore back then but if you notice many of them, especially arnold didnt wear under wear while working out. Its very obvious and erotic as hell I think.

What do you guys think of this & do any of you workout in similar attire/non attire? I know if I did that at my gym I dont think it would go over to well with the homo phobes there.

This is one thing I miss about the atmosphere of old school hard ass gyms. Just a bunch of men working out hard in barely nothing & it wasnt a big deal to them, very intense & comfortable, wish I had experienced that in those days.

I work out in just shorts, no shirt, no underwear. I don't see what the big deal is.

/oh right, I work out in my basement.

As Caslon says above, without photographic evidence, this is without merit. icon_wink.gif

I don't wear underwear when working out because my shorts have lining- and yes it's pretty obvious- but no one is ever really there or looking. The only problem is that it occasionally moves out of place and feels very awkward- and I can't 'adjust' myself because there are ladies present. icon_redface.gif That would attract too much attention.

The problem with most gym clothes I've seen guys wear is that it looks/feels too restrictive... the shorts are /way/ too long.

I prefer something between my boys and 50 lb dumbbells.

    I can understand that.

I'd go with briefs, personally. I wouldn't be comfortable freeballing.

The cotton shorts are fine by me (heck, full-on balls-to-the-walls naked is fine by me) but what's funny is they were barefooted?

I'm going to veer a bit off topic here, but regardless of what Schwarzenegger wore or did not wear to the gym, it's amazing to me that anyone ever found him attractive.

So, um ... I'm confused. What's this topic about? Working out, underwear, lamenting about the good ol' days (which never were really GOOD) ... I'm perplexed.

The other day my buddy dropped a 130-pound dumbbell (from just a foot or so off the floor) and it caught just enough of a bounce to hit the toe of my sneak on the second landing. After that I think I'm gonna wear my steel-toed Caterpillars when I train with him!

When I was younger, the old school gym I belonged to had a lounge and weight/workout area inside the locker room. Guys used this gym more than the coed area. Many guys worked out in just briefs, cotton shorts or nothing on at all (except a towel on the bench). It was all no big deal - guys lounged and read the paper, watched the news, etc in the lounge area in nothing but towels (or on towels). You could even swim in the pool naked (on alternating days with the ladies) Just men being men together - all ages, shapes and sizes. None of the "somebody might see my junk" paranoid stuff that goes on in the gyms today. For all the social freedoms we've gained, it's ironic to see all the hang ups about nudity.

Interesting when you think about it. It's more acceptable to be in a public setting wearing very little, for jogging, sunning, etc., where you are encountering all kinds of people who are not sharing the activity, but in the context of a gym where you would EXPECT to encounter people not wearing much, we've become more uptight.
