I loved her in the 90s but then had not listen to her stuff in a while. So after a long break I am totally getting into her again. I think she just has a phenomenal smoky voice with very cutting lyrics that evoke plenty of emotion. Truly underappreciated I guess in part because she sort of went anti-establishment with her record company on the second cd and the third cd had plenty of record company legal issues before finally being released. I heard that a new release may be coming out this spring. What she lacks in quantity is certainly made up in quality.

Look at how music has gone downhill in the past 10-15 years. Fiona was the "It" girl and now we get processed Katy Perry with perfected voice enhancers and insipid lyrics.

Shadowboxer was the first I heard but Paper Bag may be my favorite. Her delivery is perfect and those lyrics

Hunger hurts, and I want him so bad, oh it kills
'cause I know I'm a mess he don't wanna clean up
I got to fold 'cause these hands are too shaky to hold
-Hunger hurts, but starving works, when it costs too much to love

I love her, she's easily one of my favorite artists. I just like how she actually has talent and seems to care about the music she makes. I'd much rather she take her time with what she does than put a shitty album out every year or so.

Have you heard her cover of "Sally's Song" from Nightmare Before Christmas? It's awesome.

I really like "Never is a Promise," too.

Is this rumor substantiated or just wishful thinking? The last album came out in 2006 I believe, following the 2nd in 1999 and 1st in 1996, so, it would seem she's due for something. I know she's been working with Jon Brion at least on a bunch of gigs over the last few years. I also remember hearing they recorded an album's worth of standards/covers to fulfill her contract with Sony, but the record company shelved it?
