Does anyone who is familiar with the Fort Lauderdale area know a good hotel to stay at that is preferentially on the beach? Or, if the beach hotels are above $150ish a night, does anyone know of any other cool/fun/safe areas to stay at? Also, what are some cool clubs for 18+ (I'm 20) or other cool places/sights to see? Any suggestions would be awesome! Thanks guys!

Are you dead set on Ft. Lauderdale? Just asking because if you're looking for a younger crowd, Miami Beach and South Beach might be more your scene.

There are a ton of great places to eat along the strip. If you have the time to pick a few places to eat at I would recommend it. Do not do the typical grill or hooters that are out there. Also a good idea for ideas around town would be to go to Hollywood Beach. That is the gay hangout if the weather is nice and they can give you a lot of great ideas on what to do around town.

are there any hotels on the beach?

no hunni, there are not. I mean, its only a coastal city with year round warm weather supported by tourism, so I think you'll be hard pressed to find a hotel on the beach. :end sarcasm:

I recommend if u can get a fake ID.
You're only 20, aint no one gonna want yo underage ass in the clubs. I mean I'm sure actual ppl will take an interest to u, but as far as clubs and shit, I reckon u getta fake

For Fort Lauderdale Beaches, I'm always lauding the praises of Ray and Matt who own Alhambra Beach Resort, which is one block north of Sebastian Beach. Get one of the rooms on the second floor with the terrace so you can see the sand...

And, for the best club information I've ever found, try "Jump on Mark's List."

    Good luck!

I know there are plenty of other hotels and guides, but these have served me well for years.

    Best regards,

Hello, we're arriving on FL on thursday

I wonder if its worth to rent a car or not? we're debating about it, since we've seen very good deals We're staying close to san sebastian beach where all the resorts are, wondering if we need a car to go out to the clubs/bars? are taxis affordable or the car would be wiser money wise?

    Thanks for your help icon_smile.gif
