Starts 47 sec into the vid....this one always gives me an ache in my throat and helps me appreciate the fragility of life and the bravery of those that risk thiers for others.

Bumping this. Amazing how many people here in Canada don't spend some pocket change for a poppy donation to show their respect for those who have fought, died and those who are still fighting.

Hey Achilles, over here everyone seems to be wearing poppies. The veterans here took a suggestion from me last year and ta-dah! This year are offering for $5 a much larger poppy, detailed and with stamens. This poppy has a black suction cup at the center for sticking it to windows. Our is in the side transom at our front door.

The RJ community being international, it would be interesting to know if countries other than the US celebrate Veterans Day or have their own equivalent.

Whatever the holidays are, we should also give thanks to the troops of our allies, recognizing they have made contributions and sacrifices as well.

Good to see that Veterans' Day (previously 'Armistice Day') is commemorated In both the US and Canada (perhaps all the Commonwealth?).
Unfortunately 'The Big One' [WWI]) wasn't the war that ended all wars, but hopefully the annual commemoration of Veterans' Day will make it a step closer in all hearts and souls.

Well that's good to hear! And great suggestion, those guys really put the time in to sell poppies and aside from air cadets, the poppy fund gets most of my donation $$.
