Saturnalia sounds like it fits the challenge. It was designed 2200 years ago.

    OOOH! I got one!

How about we pick a day in december when you have to get together with all of your extended family, whether you like them or not, and eat lots of carbs....

Here's the catch! We tell the children that they have to be good all year long because a magic fat man with a beard wearing a red trench coat is coming to give all of the good children hannah montana toys, and the bad ones fossil fuels!

It's the farthest thing from religious there is! We'll call it...

    ...Christmas!

(wait, christmas is supposed to be religious??)

    TRUTH DAY!!!

Truth Day is a holiday when you join together with family &/friends, to tell each other what we really think of them. It's a day of freedom where you can tell everyone what Truly pisses you off about them; the joy & cheer of this holiday stems from the rule that after the festivities, no one is aloud to be angry about the opinions shared!!!
    Drinks are optional...

I'm doing a mash up instead.

    Hannukwanzamas.

It's for people who aren't into any of the mashed up holidays, but enjoy the food nonetheless. I'll be making kosher jelly donuts, benne cakes, and Christmas dirt cake. Very tasty!

In the former USSR they celebrated New Year's as the main holiday of the year. It was the family holiday, the party holiday, and the presents holiday all in one.

I'm all for it. It suits everybody and is non-religious.
