The Most Important Thing You Can Do For Yourself & The Gay Community - Can We Count On You?

The campaign is asking gay men to join this campaign and commit to stop the spread of HIV by agreeing to this five-point action plan:

I will know my HIV status
I will not assume I know someone else’s HIV status
I will take personal responsibility for using condoms
I will value myself and my health
I will stay informed about HIV and how it’s spread

    Another one for that list:

I will ASK anyone that I want to have sex with what their HIV status is.

This is near pointless as (1) many don´t know (2) many lie. Always assume they are positive and act accordingly.

    Of course, lostboy.

Asking is still a good idea, it removes some assumption.

So then, another for that list is:

I will take the attitude that others are positive and have safe-sex accordingly.

(but you should still ask; though some may lie, many in my experience were very truthful)

I see where you're going with thise, but not only strangers have HIV. Like Lostboy said, most people don't know. And I think the first point of this campaign is aiming to correct that specific issue. icon_smile.gif

That is why with a friend you can tell them to sex until they get a test.

While most of the "CAN DO" suggestions are important, to me the most important commitment is having a set of standards based a strong base of morals and values.

One have to be very naive if you think that your sexual partner is going to be honest about his sexual history or HIV status. For me the best and sure way to not fall victim of AIDS or HIV is to always use a Condom, avoid risky sexual acts, and most importantly be totally committed to being monogamous!
