    Speaking as a Christian...

    Far, far too many people use religion as a refuge to hide in; as an "in group" where they can be safe and look down on all those other people who aren't nearly as virtuous; and select Bible passages that reinforce their prejudices. A great deal of what these people say rests on very poor scholarship, handed-down platitudes and prejudices, and much cherry-picking.

    Most of this has very little to do with what Jesus said, and very much to do with insecurity.

    As a Christian, I often feel we'd be a lot better off without any religion.
