My friends harangued me into going a few years ago. I just remember having to eat cold pizza on the floor because there was no where to sit in the disgustingly messy dining area place thing. Then I had to loiter around while they bought 35 dollar posters.

    Yeah.

I love ComicCon! I used to work for 'the industry' so I had free pass.

Hell I miss San Diego period. It's one of the city I have no hesitation of settling down in.

5ebastian saidHey I got a 4 day pass for Comic Con. It takes place July 20th-24th. Im wondering which hotels are the closet to the convention. It seems like the median hotel price in the downtown core is $450 a night. Id prefer something a bit more economical. This is the first time going to Comic Con. I hear over 250 000 people attend. For those that live in San Diego, is it near impossible to get a hotel during this time? Are there other options such as condos available for the weekend / week? Any help greatly appreciated.

Wow....did you look on the travel web sites? Are they all that much?

Gosh...just rent a car and drive to the place if that is the cheapest. There are nicer places to stay than downtown...any where around La Jolla, Coronado, Del Mar, Carlsbad, etc...

My best friend used to like to go. Looks like it is all sold out already

metta8 said La Jolla, Coronado, Del Mar, Carlsbad, etc...

Add Rancho Santa Fe and you'll have mentioned all the most expensive places in SD icon_razz.gif Carlsbad is almost an hour drive (with traffic) from downtown, kinda far from the convention.

ok..lol..well...they are my favorite areas....Never seems like a long drive to me because I like the areas. ;)

there is also hillcrest...which is the gay area.....and close to the downtown.

Just don't stay at the Hotel Manchester Hyatt. The owner donated $125k to prop 8.

You might want to also try some of the Hotel Consolidators that book rooms in bulks at large discounts and pass on some of that savings on to you.

Looking quickly, I think that that HotelDiscount link is a lot cheaper than the other rates you quoted.

If you are a AAA member, they often times have some good deals as well.
