McCain sure is Reaganing Out a lot these days. Pitiful.

He once was a man of honor. He seems bound and determined to prevent anyone from remembering that about him.

Especially since a few months ago he said he wanted to wait until the survey was released, but now the survey is basically "invalid" because it doesn't agree with him.

Legal Defense Network executive director Aubrey Sarvis issued the following statement in response to McCain's remarks:

"Sen. McCain is clearly out of touch, not only with the American people, but also the Pentagon and our troops," Sarvis said. "McCain seems to be saying he wants a do-over because he doesn't like the findings and recommendations in the Pentagon report going to Secretary Gates. In other words, McCain is telling the Pentagon: Keep working until you produce the outcome I'm looking for."

Anybody here support Republican McCain on this? From someone who has actually worn a US uniform?

It certainly would not be any worse than what you guys have now. But I suppose it depends on how you vote.

Do you vote for the better of your country?

or for someone you feel who will give you your wants and fuck the rest, fuck America.

You know if you don't like it you can always leave.

Look at how many people are now turning their back on Obama, because he did not give them the advancement they thought he would; those are the kind of people who vote in people like Hitler. History can repeat it's self.

You are not an American. Don't you DARE ever say "fuck America" here again. OK? Nor tell any of us to leave our own country. Stick to comments about your own country, which oddly, you never make. What makes the US your strange obsession?

"It's" is always a contraction for "it is."

It is NEVER the possessive form of "it."

    Never.

Obviously, I would be extremely disappointed if Sen. McCain votes against the repeal of DADT. That being said, I think a great deal is being read into Sen. McCain's comments this morning on "MEET THE PRESS" other than what he actually said. What he said is said basically what he has always said --- that a vote on repealing DADT should take place AFTER the review has been presented and hearings held on the issue. The review has not been presented yet -- only alleged "leaks". I still think we have to take a wait-and-see approach until the review is in, the facts are known, and the congress weighs in at that time.

McCain sent himself to purgatory to run for Prez, to the nuthouse when he picked Palin as running mate, and then to Hell when his Senate seat seemed in jeopardy. He is a spineless toady.

His heroic days are long past him, and he has lost all credibility. Equality is just one of the principles sacrificed on the altar of McCain's ambition. He is now unable to speak with any moral authority whatsoever. I prefer Mitch McConnell, who is at least self-aware enough to know how craven he is.

The thing is... if we wait for this report to come out will it be blocked, questioned or delayed until the new congress takes over? Will the republicans in congress then vote it down?

We have the suuport of Gates, the majoirty of the brass heads, and now this survey... not to mention the sky did not falling when other countries implemented the same idea.

Is Sen. McCain worried that overall our military is full of knuckle dragging ignorant bigots while the armies of other countries are more progressive?

Honestly, if you care, you should call Senator McCain's office to tell him that the repeal of DADT is important to you (and to his credibility). Do it several times. Tell your friends to call him too.

Agreed. Not saying that anyone here would ever actually do this, but it agrivates the hell outta me when people are always in complete lock step with their chosen political party.

Though it would seem he's already made up his mind on the matter based on his quote.

McCain“We need to look at whether it’s the kind of study that we wanted,” McCain said. “It isn’t in my view because I wanted a study to determine the effects of the repeal on battle effectiveness and morale.”

I wonder what he thinks is the purpose of the current study if it is not related to either battle effectiveness or morale?
