Republicans are often labeled as the conservative party, but are they liberal in their TV viewing habits? According to a new study from the media research company Experian Simmons, those who vote along Republican lines favored several mainstream TV shows with non-conservative themes and progressive storylines, including the Emmy-award winning ABC sitcom "Modern Family," which features a gay couple.

Conservatives also ranked shows including "Lie to Me," "Desperate Housewives," and "NCIS" high on their viewing lists.

The list's leader, on the other hand, may come as no surprise: the study, which was conducted this past spring, found that the "Glenn Beck Program" was the most-loved show among Republicans.

"The big shows with mass appeal tend to have above-average scores from Democrats and Republicans but with higher concentrations of Republicans," John Fetto, senior marketing manager at Experian Simmons told the Hollywood Reporter. "Looking at the Democrats' side, I don't mean to make light of it, but they seem to like shows about damaged people. Those are the kind of shows Republicans just stay away from."

It says I'm conservative. I'm definitely not.

(I said that one thing about Pelowsi, but that's about it)

Only one I've watched regularly out of those is Dexter. Awesome series! 90210 was "okay", but I've only seen a couple episodes.

    Holds true for me me.

I think it is pretty hilarious that people view conservatives as close minded/racist/bigots/ignorant etc...but the shows they watch are some of the most diverse/gay friendly and overall more fun/carefree of the bunch.

Who is "it"? And nothing wrong being conservative.
The show list. Eh... true- but being conservative in the mainstream sense is contrary to my political beliefs. icon_redface.gif

    3. Dexter

    8. 30 Rock

That's all I watch on this list
Who picked these specific shows? and why do these shows indicate more that any other shows that we watch?
But Modern Family as a republican show? Isn't there a gay couple on that show?
I hope there is SO much PDA in the coming episodes icon_biggrin.gif

There was an episode earlier in the year entitled "The Kiss" where the gay couple finally kissed on screen. It was in a half hearted way kinda as it happened in the background.
