What gay bars in London do you like going to?

I've been going out to gay bars recently and I swear all I ever go to is Freedom (for free), Rupert Street (but it's normally cramped as hell) and sometimes Village. Preferably somewhere that's just friendly and not too sexual because I'm primarily looking for buddies rather than one night stands/hook-ups etc. What are the places for guys around my age too: I'm not against older guys -- I always talk to anyone that starts a conversation with me but it's just that I don't see that many guys around my age that often. Suggestions please gentlemen. icon_smile.gif

I like GAY & Village (esp the karaoke) . The guys are youngish and friendly.

And I heard about 'Kew' (spelling?) bar?

Everytime I look on Google Maps to see where all the gay bars, when I turn up I always end up in the same frickin place lol! It would be good if I carried a map with me but I would be the saddest guy on earth to carry a map to find a gay bar lol. Is GAY near Freedom -- that is like the only place I know where to go to haha.

Hmm not heard of 'Kew' bar..or do you mean 'Ku' bar. I've heard of it but don't know where it is icon_sad.gif

Try the Green Carnation or any of the local gay bars (eg away from Soho).

Is Soho not a very good area then? Sorry for my ignorance, I know nothing about the gay scene in London icon_sad.gif

Yes, I mean Ku bar. What I did last November (wow, it's already 12 months!) as a tourist was that I went to GAY and at its entrance, there were heaps of free gay publications that have all the listed gay venues and maps! It's very informative and has reviews/ comments, etc.

Oh ya I went to that one with my straight guy friend -- it was quite cozy in there albeit quite small.

I'm a young man but I'm a pretty old 19 year old lol. I'm usually very slow or don't bother with trends because as soon as there's a trend I tend to either ignore or rebel against it. Say if everyone walked down the streets with blue flip flops because it was fashionable I'd probably turn up in red ones haha. icon_cool.gif

Mainly Ku and the Loft in Soho,
We're West London based so as group we tend to go to West 5, walk there and stumble back without the hassel of tubes and night buses.
I'm miss Trash Palace and does anyone know where Popstars is now?

Ok, I shall meet you at GAY this Saturday! lol

No gay friends? But you're in London! Yes, getting started is a problem but once you're in, you're in. I went alone when I was your age in Birmingham but made friends along the way.

Good luck, mate! & tell us how it progresses!

Which ku bar do you want to go to as there are 2? It all depends on what you want as there are many different gay bars/clubs in London. I do like London's gay scene, it can be friendly

Yeah I get like that sometimes. My friends used to always try to drag me out clubbing but it felt like the worst idea possible lol.

Oh ALSO I think it's fear of the unknown. Say if you're already out and you bump into someone you don't have any pre-conceptions of what might happen or what they might be like because it all happens in an instant. But when you meet people over the net all these fears/anxieties start building up ya know?

WELL what I want is actually just a relaxed bar with a calm atmosphere. Not too many people. I've always been going on a Friday or Saturday night and Rupert Street is jam packed with guys! You can barely get inside the bloody bar let alone meet anyone. Plus I find that they're normally there with their friends and only talk to them instead.

I've heard that going to gay bars on weekdays is better for meeting people, is that true? I always thought that if I went alone on a week day I'd be the only one there lol! icon_lol.gif
