I've had so many run-ins with people who have fake profiles up recently that it's starting to really get annoying.

These people apparently never read profiles because I expressly have written on there that if you have a fake profile to not contact me.

And when they do, I'm not shy to express my reluctance in believing that the pictures they use are theirs. This produces a range of different responses from "My webcam broke." (and they can't take any more to prove it's them) to "What?! Of course that is me!"

I don't think I've ever been proven wrong once. Sometimes they say they'll send me a pic and then suddenly sign off. One guy even got so defensive that he started attacking me. "What about you? Your pictures look fake too!" At this point I was just so fed up with him that I replied "I'm verified, bitch."

To add to the verification - I've seen profiles of guys on here who don't have any face pics up, yet they are verified. I don't understand this at all. What if they decide to use someone else's face pic later on?

Oh, and my favorite fake profiles are the ones that use pictures of famous actors/models. And then what's more amusing are the guys who comment on the pictures and profiles saying "Wow, you're so gorgeous!", etc .

one of the members on here recently won mr. gay usa - he lives in san fran and goes to law school...

okay, so how about i was chatting on gay.com here in charlotte, nc with some guy who sent me pics of mr. gay usa and said it was him...

    hmmm....

so, i found mr. gay usa and asked him if i'd spoken with him before and he said he's heard of this happening a few times. i sent the guy on gay.com a message saying that i'd spoken with mr. gay usa in san fran and if he didn't remove the pics i'd report him to gay.com for impersonating someone else. that profile disappeared very quickly.

    jms84 saidit's the internet.

That sort of mentality is what fuels these posers. Just because it's the Internet does not mean it's OK to use someone else's pictures. And just because it's the Internet doesn't mean that type of behavior should be accepted.

i'm not saying it's acceptable, c'mon gimme some credit here. it's really fucking annoying is what it is. i'm just saying, there's no way to actually weed out the fakers. unless you're gonna make a new task force of people to sit around and look through, what is it now, 150000 profiles and weed out the ones that are fake.

this happens on the phone when people try to scam you. it has happened in the mail. some people have criminal tendencies and take advantage of it. i'm not saying "it's the internet get over it" just like i'm not gonna say "if you go to a bar and get drugged. oh well, that's what happens".

your stance on the verification pic is valid though. even though i've taken mine down, maybe it should be a rule that the pic+another must be kept uploaded as a true verification.

in fact,it doesn`t matter for me.but it is really ridiculous people using other people`s pic and say thats what i am looking like.and i will never have idea of why people act like that.

japultra, why not ignore that kind of people, take things easy.

This is why photos are "in review" before they are posted, the administrators will not only check to make sure they are appropriate but also that they match up with the person's face and bodily characteristics. The verified faceless have private pictures of themselves, otherwise could never have been verified.
    _____________________________

I got verified only to participate in realjock events and activities (such as voting for the boot camp contestants). I'm willing to open my cam when I talk to people as I respect they want to "know" who they are talking to, however since I'm not here to date, hook up, live a double life, etc ... whether I'm actually a 21 year old guy with quarter-sized nipples or a very precocious acne-faced 13 year old shouldn't matter. I'm here to get fitness advice, learn, kill time, participate in discussion, none of which require a face picture.

You made a good point nevertheless, and since the safety of verified members (who don't hide their faces) takes precedent over the convenience of those who remain faceless/fake/pose/etc, these members should ask the administration to make it a rule that a verified profile must have at least one public face picture.

Or just ignore the fishy profiles, their loss not yours.

    Sorry for being too wordy.

Japultrabecause I expressly have written on there that if you have a fake profile to not contact me.

As if they'd ever admit that. icon_rolleyes.gif

I don't care much for verification, not even pictureless profiles since I'm after friendship and tips anyway. As long as the person on the other end is respectful and doesn't creep me out, that's enough.

If you limit yourself to verified only people, you'd be missing out on those people who can't verify due to an absence of face pics for one or more reasons.

^ onmyway for example, is a gorgeous 21 year old, trust me! ROFL

As for fakers, I've had had my own encounters. Just ignore them. The block function is there for a reason. icon_razz.gif Don't stress yourself too much about it.

I think you're going to run into fakes in all facets of your life. You could meet a hot looking guy in a bar who completely misrepresents who he is.

There is no magic button (despite what Staples is telling you) that is going to make life nice and easy for you. It isn't fair and it isn't right but it is life.

So relax, have a little patience and try to have some fun along the way. If nothing else, you'll have some interesting stories to tell people about the folks you've met on line. I know I have some real doozies that keep my friends entertained for hours. icon_eek.gif

I personally find it depressing that there are gay people that think they can only be attractive if they lie. It is bad enough gays have to hide at work or from their families, but to hide from other gays (fear of rejection perhaps) is very depressing. icon_cry.gif

BTW I have not bothered to verify my photographs, if you think I have faked over 25 years worth of photographs then I probably won't be able to relate to you anyways.

This is me December 31st, 1966, you can still see the resemblance from today.

You were such a cute kid!!

Hey Japultra, I've always thought there were very few fake profiles on Realjock. What do you think the percentage of fakes really is. I'm just curious.

Thanks, I still remember those red pyjamas! BTW I love your Beagles. When I retire I want a house with my partner so we can have dogs (Poodles maybe).

Don't get me wrong. I don't expect everyone to be verified. I actually don't even really care. I can spot the real profiles from the fake ones.

Kansan, you are correct. The percentage of fake profiles on here, I believe, overall is pretty low. But I come across one every few days and every week or two, I'll have one of these fakers message me.
