Body hair

Recently i have noticed the advent of body hair becoming very fashionable.
I have seen alot of guys that i know and guys in porn suddenly grow their body hair out and throw away the razors and wax.

I am naturally very hairy and started waxing about 10 years ago. I was always embarrassed about my extremely hairy chest and general body hair and just hated to be seen with it. When i started waxing, it gave me a heap of confidence to take off my shirt and of course it shows more definition. Infact being hair free gave me a whole new lease of life as at that time smooth was the thing. I don't ever remember being given compliments on having a hairy chest.

I have attempted to grow it in recently but i still am not comfortable with it and feel better without it and also after the years of waxing it is now very patchy in places so i am not the bear that i used to be and so has an uneven scruffy look.

Do you guys prefer the smooth look or the hairy? Is it a blessing being hairy or a curse? Do you wish you had a hairy chest?
Do guys with body hair have more of a musky smell to them?
Is it an age thing? Is body hair appreciated more by older guys than younger?

For me personally - I prefer guys who are as smooth as possible. Showing off definition is one reason yes. That's not to say that I cannot tolerate hair on guys but nothing too excessive for me!

But from what I gather - people are fairly well divided on this topic.

I'll have to discuss this with you in person when I come to Perth next lol icon_wink.gif

    I go through phases.
On some guys a hairy (not bushy) chest is hella sexy! There was a neighbour of mine when I was growning up, he had a blond hairy chest and it was so awesome.

Then again a lot of the guys I go for are pretty smooth and I think it feels really sexy.

I guess it depends on if I'm in the mood for a "manly man" or more of a "pretty boy".

One thing I'm sure on is that shaving it is a bad idea, unless you shave it all the damned time. The stubbly chest is a look none can pull off, wax it!

I'm more concered with the hair on my arms, expecially living in Japan where 90% of the the guys are smooth as silk.

Im a hairy bastard and i did the whole wax thing when i was younger and now I don't really give a shit and let it grow out. In summer i do clipper my chest but otherwise i leave it. As for what i like on other guys, don't have a preference, though i do like some body hair over no body hair.

Some guys are hairy in really good ways and don't need to change a thing.

Other guys are hairy in less fortunate ways and might want to consider trimming.

I'm not especially hairy, but the hair on my chest/stomach is not very evenly distributed, so I run trimmers over it about once a month.

I've always been a fan of the smooth look with just a little fur trail. That is by far the hottest to me. Some guys look good with modest hair, but the wolf man look is a complete turnoff for me.

My bf, however, likes a guy with a hairy chest.

Personally, I trim. I'm not overly hairy by any means, but more than I like if I let it go.

Personally I find trimming better for the excessively hairy guys (such as myself). Sometimes I'll let it grow completely out for pictures, but only because they sell. Otherwise I'd stay trimmed all the time. It just looks and feels better.

Body hair is always in. Well, for me at least.

I find it hard to imagine that some hairy men don't get compliments on their chest hair; I've gotten a few and it feels good to be complimented on it.

    Long live hair!!!

I like trimmed on hairy guys and smooth on sparsely hairly guys.

I use a number 2 clipper on my stomach hair and number 3 on my pecs. I try to keep my shoulders and neck smooth where my hairs are sparse. I used to use a number 4, but my hairs lay flatter when I use a number 3.

My least favorite is bushy followed closely by just a few sparsely populated long hairs everywhere.

My experience is that guys seek me out for the fur.

SMOOTH!!!! If you have worked hard to get a great body, have fantastic definition, and size, why hide it under a rug??? And if it is going gray.... shave it!!!! Nothing more gross than back hair,,,, yech!!!!! Or picking hairs out of my teeth when I am licking or sucking a guy's cock...
I'm not overly hairy, but do everything I can to be smooth everywhere.... even to buying the Mangroomer Body Shaver, an articulated shaver to reach the hard-to-reach back areas....
    Body hair should be banned!!!!!!

I think like anything it's key not to generalize for every guy in every situation.

I'm a hairy fucker and frankly, don't like having to trim and shave and wax. However, I hate being shaggy and am self-conscious about having hair on my back and shoulders—so I keep things trimmed on my chest and tummy, completely smooth on my shoulders and back. I get way too many compliments on my fuzzy butt to touch that one.

As for others, it's all in how a guy carries it. I prefer a bit of chest fuzz. And certain hairy legs and stomachs are enough to drive me wild. Then again, some guys have hair patterns that just don't click for me.

    Ditto.
Very conscious of being "groomed" and ready for action.
Keep chest tightly trimmed but just enough because most guys seem to really like it. Stomach man-scaped for a trail and just enough thatch on the roof to punctuate the junk.
Back, shoulders, arms all smooth and clean - razored down daily.
Ass- fur untouched, and legs trimmed to a 2.

I like some fur on a guy, but not too much. Depends on pattern and texture. Some guys it's hot as hell. Some, eh. not so much. Smooth is cool, as long as it isn't unnaturally so - something super-creepy about an over-waxed boybod on a guy over 25.

I remember seeing Tom Bianchi's pics of Bob Paris (and Rod Jackson) when Bob came out of the closet, and one of the shots showed Bob with some of his body hair grown out. It was SO much hotter and sexier than his smooth competition look. Just depends.

And GUYNEXTDOOR...face it boss, you could have pink sheeps wool growing all over and you'd still be smokin'! icon_rolleyes.gif

Dislike mine and get rid of most of it in warm weather and when I have time to keep up with it, leaving just a lil trail on my belly (see photos).

If I got my body fat where I wanted it I would treat myself to waxing but right now I don't go shirtless enough to make it worth the expense.

Also prefer guys smoother although def. not stubbly as mentioned. Ouch!

    Any serious shavers got tips?

I think the perfectly smooth look originated with men wanting to emulate Abercrombie models, maybe, though they'd do better to just hit the gym harder... i've always thought smooth, waxed men had a creepy pre-pubescent look that turns me off.

the look reminds me of mall manikins, little boys, and cheesy romance novel covers- none of them being good connotative associations.

i think hairy men are hot as hell- the trick is that it should be the right amount of hair in the right places. a good rule of thumb (in my book at least) is that a man should never use a razor anywhere but his face (and stay away from wax or nair unless he's got a hairy back).... but for everywhere else there's the trimmer- not to be obsessively compulsively over used.

a well kept hairy chest, furry legs and feet, forearms, pits... all hot. especially on a young guy where the effect is to make him look more manly. furry older men aren't (yet, at least) as attractive to me, because white body hair kinda freaks me out...

AND, i think that contrary to common misconception, well kept body hair can make muscular definition more distinct- a happy trail can make abs more structured, and chest hair can bring more attention to pecs...

in answer to some specific OP questions:
its a blessing- hairy men can always trim down, but smooth men have no choice. yes, i wish my own chest was harrier- its fuzzy but the hair is a bit thin and patchy. and yeah you'd probably be more prone to musk but i haven't met a gay man who isn't turned on by a bit of natural manly scent lol

To me has nothing to do with models or wanting to look like little boys. I'm just very tactile and prefer the way smooth skin feels. I would never take it all off, agree that looks kind of creepy. I just like my chest smooth, vs. the scraggly shit God gave me.

When I was younger, I found hair on a dude to be unattractive. However, the older I get, the more I like it. Nothing feels better then running your fingers through a nicely trimmed hairy chest. I'm also a huge fan of hairy pits! Yum icon_smile.gif

Depends on my mood and the appearance on the guy - but definitely like manscaping and groomed body hair - not wild beast hair lol

I read somewhere, but I don't remember where, that the smooth 'trend' came about because some gay men wanted to look like bodybuilders. And it kind of caught on from there. And although from some men it has nothing to do with being a model, for other it does and that is what they want to be, emulate and become because over the past decade we've been told that body hair is disgusting and 'unnatural' by a select group of image 'experts' and what not.
