I'm definitely the palest of my friends, except for my one friend who is a red head who can't tan. The thing is I can tan, but during the winter and early spring months I am white as casper himself.

I figure its because I'm a mix of the whitest mix of german, irish, pennsylvania dutch, welsh and basically anything else white.

However I know quite a few germans ect. who are quite tan. I notice as soon as I get a little tan I look 10x more toned and defined then when I'm pale. I just find this interested how much color can play a role in your definition.

I'm pale myself, but tan well (and have, in recent years, started to tan myself whenever I have the chance out in the sunlight).

The effect a tan has on your definition is eerie; even extra fat looks better with a tan. It offers a nice boost in terms of self-image icon_cool.gif

I live in Canada where the sun does not shine much from mid-October to mid-May. You can say I am pale. Even in the summer I put sun block on to guard against the ultra rays. Last thing I need is skin cancer (I am HIV+ and skin cancer has appeared in my family tree).

I was teaching a class yesterday at the gym when I remarked to my participants that my legs were about as white as they get. I can't wait to put on some shorts and enjoy the two months of summer we get up here.

I'm super pale, LOL. I'm Latino but my family seems to be split right down the middle because half of us have the really light pale skin and the other half has the nice dark Spanish skin (lucky bastards! LOL). I think it has to deal with all the European in my family background. Past my grandparents it's mostly Italian and French and who knows what else.

Although I am normally very light skinned, I can tan very dark if I start off slowly. But I usually burn very easily if I don't do it right. I think I get the light complexion from my Dad, who is Irish, and the ability to tan dark from my Mother, who is Sicilian.

I'm fair-skinned, pale and have freckles. I have to wear sunblock even when i go on holiday in Wales. Sometimes I wish I could tan, it would save so much hassle and sunburn is very painful.

I embrace my milky whiteness. In order for me to achieve a tan, I have to go incredibly slow or I'll burn. Last time I did it, I started in a standing tanning booth for a minute and a half and worked my way up to 5. I don't anymore, not since I've had a few dysplastic moles removed.

While we're on the subject of being pale and vacationing in Wales, could you kidnap Gareth David-Lloyd for me while you're there and ship him overicon_razz.gif

I hate being pale, but it's just one of those things, no? I have a traditional Irish almost transparent blue pallor. Not hot. I use a red green filter thing on photos to take the edge off.

Some guys have an almost physical aversion to pale skin; it can be very demoralising.

I'd rather have pale skin and know I should avoid the sun than be one of those guys who looks like old leather at 35.

Embrace your paleness!!- it's much better than damaging your skin with tanning!!
