    Hey Guys,

I want to take a day trip up to Philly soon (there's a couple of museums I'd like to swing by; maybe hit South St. and shop for junk), so I figured I'd see if there are any RJers up there who might want to meet up and hang out.

    Message me...it'll be fun!

    Joe

The last time I was in Philadelphia was in November 1989. The 61 story One Liberty Place was the only skyscraper taller than City Hall and Two Liberty Place was under construction. Wanamakers had its huge flagship department store in the heart of downtown right near city hall. Most of the men, especially Italian-American men wore black leather jackets and tight blue jeans. Unfortunately, I was still in the closet at that time. I am sure that city has changed tremendously since then and I would love to visit Philadelphia again. One thing that I have been following about Philly is the population statistics from the US Census. Something needs to be done to stop the city's population decline or Philadelphia will end up like Detroit. People, especially middle class people have got to fully realize that they cannot escape serious problems by moving away because those same serious problems eventually follow them out to the suburbs.

As a pseudo philadelphian(i'm on the jersey side)I'll sum up the main things to do there.

    philadelphia art museum
    Mtter Museum

12-13th streets between spruce-chestnut street is the gay district

Olde city (front-4th streets between chestnut-arch streets) has many good restaurants and art galleries

Philadelphia has changed so much, I doesn't feel like home anymore. When I was up there this past December and saw that HUGE building that Comcast was putting up, it answered why my pay hasn't increased!!! ( I work for Comcast in the DC area! So I can hate a bit, but I love my job!)

Check out Fairmount park, the Art museum, etc.

Not to sure about nightlife now though. Is Gay Acres still around across from the Art Museum?
