Oh that was a simple mistake. She knew it was North Korea that was the aggressor as she spoke about it right before she made the faux pas. What pisses me off is that she's saying someone the current US government somehow lacks security because of this...What? The US is doing the right thing, consistently warning against North Korean aggression and no doubt will go back up South Korea if the shit hits the fan. Also, the US can't exactly do much right now because of China.

I'm just glad the human species survived because:
    1. McCain/Palin lost
    2. Would-have been president McCain did die of a stroke from his battles with a democratic Congress
    3. Would-have been president Palin didn't launch WW 3 by mistakenly nuking North or South Koreaicon_wink.gif

You guys have such a case of Palin derangement syndrome it's laughable. Why not put those outstanding brain cells of yours to good use and count the "ahs" when your buddy is without a teleprompter.

    Sarah Palin writes:

Americans love Mr. Smith Goes to Washington because it's about an ordinary man who stands up to power and says, We're taking our country back.

Sidney Buchman once said, about Frank Capra:

I really believe he never knew what Mr. Smith was actually saying.

    Capra wasn't the only one.

If it weren't tragic, it would be hilarious.

Maybe we should just send the idiot to North Korea?

Frank Capra was a brilliant director for certain subjects, who benefited from a great cinematographer like Joseph Walker. But his style came to be known as "Capra-Corn" due to its extremely conservative, outdated and grossly sentimental view of America, and he fell out of fashion after WWII.

What Mr. Smith is actually about is insider political corruption. Sarah Palin naturally wouldn't have a clue about that, having corrupted Alaskan politics to an unprecedented degree (I doubt she knows what compass direction the sun rises, much less what moral compass heading to follow).

In the American image that Palin and other right-wingers hold, "our" country means White Christian Fundamentalists. Minorities, Jews and others need not apply. Before anyone endorses "her" country they might double-check whether or not it would actually be "our" country. If you're gay or a minority, it won't be.

The difference being what's between those "ahs"...substance.

Palin could debate herself on world affairs and still lose the debate; Obama took a dump this morning which is Sarah's intellectual superior.

More like substance abuse. icon_biggrin.gif Based on his poll numbers, folks don't seem all that impressed with either the "ahs" or the BS that lies between them.

Big Macs outsell Chateaubriand, let us not forget.

He's doing what he has to do, without nearly as much regard for the poll numbers as most of his predecessors exhibited. For that, I applaud him. He may well be a one-term president, but I'm prouder of voting for him today than I was on Election Day 2008.

The first post made me laugh because she's Such a dork

But the last post scared the hell out of me because she IS George W Bush without a dick .... and I am seeing that she is positioning to run
and the idea that America allowed itself to vote for an imbecile like him makes me think they could definitely do it again icon_eek.gif

I think the reason Americans vote for imbeciles is that they fight for what they believe in (as pitiful is as it may be). Republicans do not compromise, and eventually, and largely because the Democrats compromise with the Repubs (who don't compromise), the Republicans get their way. That's a large reason as to why we're in the hole that we're in. And if the Democrats continue not to take stands on the issues and show some spine, Sarah Palin could actually win the presidency. As it already stands, Obama looks like toast to most and the best chance for the Democrats would probably be for somebody to challenge him from the left/progressive wing of the party.

You nailed it. For some reason, (unfathomableto Canadians in general) in US culture compromise is regarded as weakness. Poltics is about winning and losing, not about good governance.

It is sort of summed in the priorities they enshrine: "life, liberty & the pursuit of happiness" in the United States; "Peace, Order and Good Government.
    in Canada.

    kinda milquetoast in comparison.

Wow that statement really damns alot of Americans
While I agree on the compromise issue
That is Obama's problem in a nutshell
but to vote for a party because they stand by their convictions ..... no matter how foul and ridiculous they are
really is telling about the cumulative intelligence the United States has as a country right now

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/mitchell-bard/why-sarah-palins-north-ko_b_788647.htmlThe real damning Palin quote in the Beck interview is the one in which she worries if "the White House is gonna come out with a strong enough policy to sanction what it is that North Korea's gonna do." Putting aside her usual butchering of the English language, she takes a complicated problem facing the United States (and the world) and reduces it to a talking-point political attack on the president.

Her comment reveals that she has no understanding that we are dealing with a North Korean leadership that may not be rational and may even be self-destructive. And one with the firepower to kill legions of South Korean civilians. To her simplistic, politics-driven approach, it's only about how the Democratic president isn't tough enough.

She recklessly portrays the North Korea crisis as one that is simple and only requires American strength, when, in reality, it is a difficult-to-solve issue fraught with danger. It is complicated and nuanced, and one wrong move could lead to an attack on Seoul.

I wonder if Palin would be so cavalier in her approach if North Korea's missiles could reach Anchorage, Dallas or some other city in Real America?

And this person wants to be president? It's a joke.

Palin's "North"-for-"South" flub matters, but not because she misspoke. It matters because we, as a country, are acting as if she is some kind of policy expert, when, in reality, she is simple-minded and ignorant. She can say the wrong name, just like us. But just like most of us, she has no business acting like she understands the North Korea crisis in the first place.

  • Nov 27, 2010 12:44 AM GMT
I would have her over the current joke of a president ANY DAY. This is rediculous to call her out on a simple mistake. What about the amazing Joey Biden , Do you know how many times that fool has said stupid things ?!!!!!! I would like to see Obama shoot a gun like she can !
