It really sounds like a funny question.....but I find I have to ask it.

I am a 24 Hour Fitness member....with a membership that I can use all over the country. But silly me! I just ASSUMED with a name like 24 Hour Fitness.....the clubs...would be open......24 hours. You would think yes?

On recent trips to cities in the midwest.....no such luck. Most closed around 8 pm.
    WTF?

So here I am wondering if my 24 Fitness gym is going to be open tomorrow because it is Thanksgiving......

Yeah, that's pretty lame. Most of the 24 Hour Fitness locations are open 24 hours here in California. The smaller "Express" clubs close in the evenings. And a few of the "Fit" and "Sport" clubs close for 2 or 3 hours each night.

I went to the gym tonight and noticed a sign, indicating that they will close at 2pm tomorrow and won't open till the next day at 6am. WTF? I'm 99% sure they were open on Thanksgiving last year. Oh well. No big deal. I'll do my Thursday routine on Sunday or something.

most of my 24 hr gyms in houston are actually 24 hrs which is nice cuz when i do get to workout, i usually go kinda late, but it is silly to be named 24 hr fitness and not actually be open 24 hrs.

on a somewhat related note, most of the CVS's in houston are dropping the 24 hr bit and closing at midnight, now that sucks.

This is why so many people love my old gym, Anytime Fitness. Just buzz your key fob and let yourself in anytime of the day or night, and on holidays. Simple, but brilliant concept.

    I love my gym. icon_cool.gif

When I was in California some of the 24 Hour Fitness clubs closed at 10PM. It is a dumb idea to keep that name and not be open 24 hours.

I wish your gym were here today, I really wanna work out but I guess I'll just run. The Bible Belt hardly recognizes the importance of fitness but see the grandeur of over-eating.

False advertisement is against the law. If some of them are not staying open 24 hours as the name suggests, they should not be in business.

City zoning and permits often define how long a business can remain open a day.

Two of the ones close to me are closing at 2PM today. They are normally open 24/7.

My gym is open (key pass) 24/7/365 and I'm on-route for a light leg workout before gobbling gobbler with family.

    Love it!

It is not false advertisement. It is just the name. On their commercials they state that not all locations are open 24/7.

I think it is good they are closing today for the holiday. Everyone should get to spend the day with friends or family. I find it crazy that more and more stores are opening on Thanksgiving now.

I have some pet peeves about 24 Hour Fitness that I won't go into because they'd make me sound like the grumpy old man I'm becoming. But I think having limited hours on major holidays is reasonable. Besides, if I wasn't going to get to the gym before 2 p.m. I probably wouldn't have gone. Which I did, and I'm glad.

Are you entitled to feel just a little extra badass if you did deadlifts on Thanksgiving? icon_biggrin.gif

Actually I find that most 24 Hour Fitness Clubs in LA are NOT 24 Hours. If it wasn't $27/year to renew my membership, I'd have nothing to do with them anymore as I prefer the local Gold's
