I was following this guy...mid 40's probably...as he made his way through the security area. I kinda figured he may have been either under the influence of alcohol or drugs because he staggered a little bit as he walked and was just generally very slow moving. As we got to the woman who took our boarding passes and ID, I told her that I thought the guy was on something.

Then as we are putting items in containers on the conveyor belt, he just takes one of mine and says he needs it. "whatever" I thought, and just let it slide. Then the Security woman tells everyone to take everything out of their pockets...papers, belts, etc...I dont remember ever hearing of taking paper out of pockets before.

Then I look and see that guy with his shorts down at his ankles....naked. I said ," DUDE, what are you doing?" one of the security people came up and asked him what his problem was and he said, "the lady said to take everything out so i did". She told him that it didn't mean to take off all his clothes. As the head of security came over, i told him that I had been following the guy through security and he was acting strange even then,..like he was drunk.

Anyways, it was quite the scene at the Palm Beach Airport. Later I saw the guy being escorted to his gate by a security officer so i guess they did let him board his plane surprisingly to me. The guy was on something...had to be.

    here's an interesting story...

    http://today.msnbc.msn.com/id/40358601

college student stripped down to a speedo before going through security check at an airport. looks pretty cute in the video but can't see a whole lot. He's not under the influence like your guy was but your story reminded me of him.

I think he was just making a political statement about the use of these new full body scanners in some airports, which allows security officers to virtually see people naked. yeah that must be it... icon_lol.gif

Okay, so he was drunk &/or on something; as annoying as it is to fly these days, Im suprised more people aren't getting loaded before getting to the airport. But then, there is always the airport bar..

Yeah, I've encountered quite a few drunks in terminals and onboard planes. When I flew almost weekly back in the 1980s-90s, a 100k+ frequent flier, I'd see it regularly. I suppose some people are stressed by flying and take to drink, or are just drunks to begin with.

On a few unfortunate occasions on a plane when I found myself seated next to a drunk (always men, BTW), who were either passed out and snoring loudly and leaning all over me if not flying first class, or else being loud & obnoxious, I'd ask the flight attendant if I could be seated somewhere else. I always was.

BTW, regarding the removal of paper from pockets, I'm not aware why that's done, but I could hazard a guess. Unless the pockets are made completely empty, metal foil or foil-lined paper, like in some candy wrappers, might triggered the metal detector. And if it didn't, it might block the effectiveness of the body scanner.

This new TSA rule has me all riled up!! It's not fair I tell you!!!icon_neutral.gif

I had to change flight plans 8 times before I could find one passing thru an airport with the bodyscanner/full pat down!! It's very aggravating....icon_wink.gif
