After visiting the States... I have to say, we get the raw deal over here. Maybe I am generalising but it seemed that the majority of guys in America take far better care of themselves than they do over here. Do not get me wrong there are a large number of guys that do in the UK & Ireland but, not as many. Am I imagining this? What do you all think..?

Also as a young bald man, I noticed its not as common in America... Am I doomed if i go there permanently? haha icon_lol.gif

Well...I thought the people of the UK took better care of themselves when I went over for a visit a couple years back (idk about Ireland, didn't get a chance to visit).

well the guys in the UK and Ireland drink too much an eat too much fried food

The population in the US is much more diverse.
Yeah we have our fatties that refuse to work out

    luckily they are mostly straight

Vanity is far more common in America, especially in the major cities.
If you stopped by Los Angeles- then you probably tons of the 'wannabe-actors-' and if you stopped by New York- then you probably saw tons of the 'wannabe-models.'

You can see how much each culture values beauty/vanity if you watch two different version of the same series- i.e. Big Brother.
U.K. BB focuses on 'interesting' characters and American BB focuses on 'pretty' characters + one fatty. -or QAF UK vs American-
The guys on SatC also kept getting more attractive with each passing season (for the most part) and the women kept layering on more makeup.
...people here are just trying to live up to what this nation (media) believes beauty is- and what the 'normal' 'every-day' individual should look like.

    Something extra:
Typical American sitcom = fat funny man + beautiful skinny woman

    EDIT:
He's hot- and his accent makes him even hotter. vlcsnap-2010-11-15-02h01m50s193.jpg

I'm not sure it's a fair comparison. I mean, how many guys are there in the UK compared to the US (not so much Canada cos it's full of wildebeest and moose and those mounties with the weird hats).

But anyways, it's a bit of a sweeping generalisation. If you go to the gay bars in London there are plenty of guys who look after themselves. But if you go to Blackpool it's all fat blokes eating chips.

Certainly I saw plenty of very fat guys in Disneyland in Orlando. They didn't look like they took care of themselves.

Irish men and English men are two very different flavors.

Personally, I find Irishmen hotter than San Antonio Texas in August.

Which cities in the US did you visit? I think it really depends on where you go whether the guys take care of themselves or not.

Also, some of us in the US find bald guys quite sexy, so I think you should probably move here. immediately.

I can't speak to how 'well' they take care of themselves, but I've found Irish and British guys tend to be the nicest guys around. Canadians too seem to be very nice as well, however not as many are as polite and social as Irishmen and British guys. A large majority of gay Americans are NOT like their Irish and British counterparts. Americans are more conceded. icon_neutral.gif

    Valid points by all

I would tend to agree that vanity does seem to be a bigger in America and I agree that Irish men anyways if I say so myself are more polite and good natured. But thats the way I was brought up I would say hello or good day to strangers in the street... If they caught my eye contact. I did notice that when I was there if I spoke to someone in a bar they automatically thought I was coming on to them! It offended me actually the best nights I've had is meeting and chatting to random then going to a house party. But I guess some would call that naive but I call it sociable and friendly.

Ps it was Chicago and new York I was in

It depends on what you're looking for. I've know some seriously hot Irish men. Alot of irish men that i know are fit.. they love their fur and I LOVE their hot accent.

Irish men and aussie men that are hot and fit do it for me. The accents melt me ;))

Irish guys generally aren't that hot in reality, our stereotypes of being pale and skinny are indeed correct, we just seem hot cause it's only the hottest ones that dare venture out of the emerald isle to get a decent tan icon_cool.gif

Iz tru. anyway, being purdy doesn´t make you good in bed, eg dutch men. Blond, blue eyed, swoony. Generally useless in bed.

Americans tend to be one extreme or the other. They either let themselves go completely or stay fit sometimes obsessively. What I like most about the men form other countries is that they are not nearly as hung up about sex and can be far more playful and less inhibited. There are American men like this but you can just read the forums here and see that the highly religious nature of this country still leaves many gay men feeling guilty or conflicted about seeking sex strictly for pleasure and not for love.
