Can TV programs make us paranoid?

I am wondering if the shows I watch on TV are really having a cumulative effect on me.

It does not help that I watch Law & Order SVU and Criminal Minds. icon_rolleyes.gif
Unsolved Mysteries, 48 hours, and American Justice.

I do not worry that I am becoming desensitized but rather I am starting to think these fictional (and some real) depictions of crime are giving me exaggerated fears and anxieties about the actual levels of danger out there.

It makes me wonder if my TV tastes are just making me more neurotic.

Oh for the days of The Partridge Family icon_lol.gif

    My remedy shows:

    Glee
all the Star Trek franchise reruns
    Big Bang Theory.

So if you see me walking down the street humming "C is For Cookie" - it is because that gives me a feeling of carefree security and pushes out the fear.

See I'm not neurotic, I just an all-out loon. But at least I look like a happy loon.

I watch hours upon hours of these murder documentaries. I'm always thinking the unthinkable. It makes me really paranoid.
