I wanted to do a post about the late R&B singer Aaliyah Haughton who died in a tragic plane crash August 25th, 2001. Aaliyah was a well-known artist and was on to the road of stardom at the time of her death throughout her career she achieved more than what any other artist could have done during that time.
I just wanted to know if any of you guys were fans of her music, do you have a favorite song, and what did you like the most about her. I have her postomous album I Care 4 U and love her song Rock The Boat and was a huge fan. RIP BabyGirl icon_smile.gif

HomingDevice saidShe has some great songs, I love "are you that somebody" the most. I heard her rhythms and sounds were done by timbaland though so i am probably more a fan of his art than i am of hers.
Timberland was one of her producers for her albums One In A Million and her last self-titled album Aaliyah he did produce most of her songs along with Missy Elliot icon_biggrin.gif

Back and Forth is one of my all time favorite songs. I used that song for YEARS in hip-hop classes in junior high. I cried when she died.

As much as the film version of Queen of the Damned was a corn-filled eye sore most of the time, I must say that my favorite part of the whole movie was Aaliyah. Even her weird accent. She was a pretty awesome vampire queen, seductive and alien.

I remember being sad about her plane crash. I've always loved the "Dust Yourself Off and Try Again song". She was talented!

I had to go find my Aaliyah collection after reading this thread. I loved her so and felt like I lost a personal friend when she passed.

It's hard to pinpoint a favorite song, but if I had to pick, it'd be a tie between Try Again, and I Care 4 U. Everything she did was amazing though--no one can replace her.

I was just talking about her yesterday. I love and miss her. She was such a great talent. A lot of these young chicks now would not be here if it wasnt for her.

I remember watching her MTV Diary and immediately became a big fan when she mentioned how important family was to her during the times she was always busy with work and when she brought her brother on stage with her at an MTV awards. My cousins made fun of me for crying over her when she died, but I didn't care. Up to this day, I still get teary-eyed whenever I'd hear 'Miss U' on my iPod. icon_sad.gif

Jake, that's awesome and I feel ya on that one--I couldn't help but bounce around in the car while I was driving around earlier tonight!

I'll never forget where I was when I heard the news about the crash.

And yeah, "Miss You" gets me every time.

"We Need A Resolution" is such a cool song. "Loose Rap" is fun and "Rock The Boat" is one of the sexiest songs ever. Aaliyah is a classic for me. Every song on the album has something special about it.

    "I Care 4 You":

One In a Million and Age Ain't Nothing But are also both solid.

    Gone too soon.
