At my PT's behest, I am trying out roller blading.

Supposed to be good for building up the core balancing muscles and legs and ankles....and burning calories

I know I can feel the sweat running down my back in the house now.

Ok off to the gym.

I got my first Roller Blades in 1989....

I am on my third pair, and I don't know how may wheels I've gone through.

The hardest part about rollerblading is telling your parents you are gay.

Funny, just decided recently to try Rollerblading, and I wanted to ask for suggestions on what I should by and where. Any tips?

I've been looking for a new sport, and as I have a long bike path next to my house, this should have been a no brainer, but I just figured it out.

Okay, I had a typo in my initial posting. I know I need to buy skates. Particular type? Good place to purchase? Things to look out for?

I just dusted my skates off. Im excited to get back into it. Love the freedom and speed.

Do you guys wear protective gear? I never did but feel guilty about not wearing it now.

I should try roller blading again. I tried it once and didn't care for it (1991-ish). I love roller skating and was just looking at my roller skates the other day. The problem with roller skating is that no one seems to want to go along and you just can't skate anywhere. When I do go, there are too many 'rules' that it isn't fun. I have been repremanded almost every time by the rink staff for something or another. Skating forward only and no tricks is borring.
I remember the days when it was okay to join hands with a fellow skater and try to spin the hell out of each other until one of us flies away from breaking centripetal force. lol.
