Bestbuy gives you a crappy Samsung as a loaner phone. I had no idea what a piece of crap regular phones were. Why would anyone have one if those useless things?!?!?!?!?

Next time ask them for a loaner phone. It's more social.

First I knew that your iPhone had a problem. Did it fail on it's own, or did you drop it or something? Since I have an iPhone, I'd appreciate knowing any Achilles Heel it may have.

From the sounds of it, I believe Caslon uses his iphone mostly for the apps and web browsing, and not so much for making calls.

IC. We'll have to ask Caslon, since when he first got it, shortly after I got my previous iPhone as I recall, I thought a principal use was as a cell phone.

A drink spilled and it sat in a puddle for several minutes before it was discovered. I am glad I got the insurance so this didn't cost me anything fir a new phone.

The phone is my least used feature. I MISSED MY SCRABBLE BUDDIES! I missed being able make a play from in bed in the middle of the night if I wanted to.

I missed tormenting everybody on RJ! ... icon_evil.gif

I missed not being able to look up anything at any time anywhere.

I missed not being able to email without having to tap the same key over and over until you got the right letter.

I missed not being able to hear voicemails. I never figured the out.

I missed being able to read articles past the front page of the Wash Post.

    Oh it was HELL!!!!!!!!!!

I'm sure when cars were first making their appearance, people would be considered lazy for driving.

I'm able to get a lot more done in a smaller amount of time with my smartphone. Some may say I'm lazy because I don't sit down at a computer to write my emails. I say if they're not responding in a timely manner by using a smartphone while they're traveling (not driving), they're being inefficient.

I've been on Earth for more than 60 years, and I welcome technology that simplifies & improves my life. For that reason I don't use these devices to play video games, but I've had a digital PDA for 12 years, and a cell phone for 20. And when I thought the smartphone that's right for me had arrived, I combined those 2 separate functions in the iPhone.

And for nearly 20 years before I got a Palm PDA I had a paper Daytimers organizer, for my appointments, contacts & notes, that I always carried with me. I think going paperless and adding digital capabilities that sync with my computer is an improvement in efficiency, and integrating that with a cell phone even more so.

The iPhone doesn't make me lazy, but more productive & effective. It helps me to save time so I can do more, and do it better.

I worked for T-Mobile customer service just recently for a short period of time. When a call came through for an HTC product every one of us would cringe. By far the worst hardware/software reliability issues. I still can't believe T-Mobile continues to carry and sell HTC phones. We were allowed to give our personal opinion if someone asked our advice on a phone purchase and every one of us would steer them away from the HTC phones, we just didn't want to have to deal with the customer when the phone died for the 4th time in a year and we couldn't even swap them out for a better brand phone.

For everything you mentioned, except maybe the voicemail part, an iPad is a great addition. I have that along with an iPhone 4, and for most apps, I prefer the iPad by far. RJ is great on the iPad except for not having chat capability. The only other problem with RJ is if you're using a finger to scroll quickly and you touch an avatar, or if you accidentally rest your hand and touch an avatar, it will open. Then the guy will think you were looking at him when you really weren't intending to. LOL

Just wait till next year when Apple releases the 7" ipad. It will be more pocketable than the current ipad. And you can ditch your iphone. Seriously, most iphone users I know hardly use it for talking. It's all for apps and web surfing. Plus, no long term contracts required on the ipad.

Thanks Heartrobb, I know. I normally want others to see when I've visited whether I'm using the iPad or another computer. So it is almost always set to "Allow..." Just those occasional accidental hits on the iPad. I try to be more careful and swipe on the right side, and rest my hand away from the avatars.
