So TCU located in Fort Worth Tx "where the west begins" is now also where the Big East begins. Is that nuts or what? Imagine how much the University must pay in travel costs. This is all because of the lame BCS system that does not give them a fair shot at the National Title.

Welcome to the wacky world of collegiate sports! Let's spend more money on sports and neglect the rest of what a university is suppose to be -- to educate. I realize TCU is a private institution and they can do whatever they want, but stroking one's ego -- HUBRIS!

And this proves Americans are poor in their geography ....

Stupidest move of all this conference realignment stuff. They might as well push FSU into the Big 12 now.

I'm wondering why they didn't join the Big 12, since they're still an AQ and perfect fit.

I agree with you, NashBoomer. TCU belongs in the Big 12.

And speaking of FSU, let's throw them into Conference USA and move the University of Central Florida into the ACC. Then FSU can play in the Liberty Bowl and never be BCS eligible!!

The Big 12 doesn't want TCU. TCU is a joke. When the Horned Frogs actually play somebody, they will be exposed as a top 10 fraud.

The travel isn't that much farther in the Big East then it is in the MWC, I believe the average distance to a schooll for them is around 1,100 miles, and in the Big East it's like 1,200 miles, but it balances out because they are going to make a lot more money in the Big East then in the MWC...As someone said, the Dallas Cowboys play in the NFC East, I just wonder how it's gonna work with 17 basketball teams in one conference...

I agree the Big 12 makes more sense, but the Big East invited them. And I agree that the Big 12 doesn't want them but more like they are afraid of them. The Big 12 schools don't want another team in their conference that might beat them.

The Big 12 should want TCU because they were the biggest losers in the realignment that took place earlier this year. People were afraid that the Big 12 would totally crumble. Instead, they only lost Colorado to the Pac-10 and powerhouse Nebraska to the Big 10. With 10 teams in the Big 12, I'm not sure if they'll even have a Big 12 championship anymore. Overall, the Big 12 has lost a lot of luster and prestige and should do anything to bolster its strength and competitiveness.

I totally agree they should, I just don't think they do.

huh!!!! TCU has consistently had a decent football team that has beaten several teams from major conferences over the years in various bowl games.

I'd argue they are better than many of the SEC teams that always seem to get an unfair media boost at the beginning of the season.

The Big XII doesn't want them, because quite frankly that Conference is ran by Texas, and Texas doesn't want another in state school competing with them...

Basically, UConn will have an automatic Orange/Fiesta Bowl berth if it wins this weekend against unranked USF and achieves an 8-4 record. Boise St. snapped a 24 game win streak by losing one game to now #17 Nevada, and for their efforts, they now have the honor of playing in the Kraft Fight Hunger Bowl. That is why the Big East needs TCU and TCU needs the Big East.

TCU would be a better geographical fit in several other conferences (Big XII, CUSA, etc) But money is the reason (of coarse). And who can really blame em. Put yourself in a situation where your "business" could make more money and gain national recognition. Im pretty sure most of us would do the same thing.

One thing that was mentioned that caught my eye was the question of the Big XII and its conference championship. In order to have a championship game, there must be 2 divisions totalling 12 or more schools. The Big XII is slated for only 10 schools. This is why the Pac-10, soon to be renamed Pac-12, did what they did. Soooo, the famed Big-XII is going to me missing out on a conference title game, for a year at least... icon_sad.gif

    Thoughts...

The Big XII (12 teams) will only have 10 teams
The Big 10 who has 11 teams will add Nebraska and now have 12 teams... soooo The Big XII will have ten teams and the Big Ten will have 12 teams! hahaha....

Thankfully the Pac-10 got it right! The Pac-10 (10 teams) will become the Pac-12 (12 teams)

The Big XII really does need both TCU and Boise State to retain 10 teams. But the whole system is ass backwards. Team are joining conference on the other end of the US because the BSC mafia refuses to have a playoff.

Bioste State is getting screwed, again. I feel bad for them. The conference they just joined to improve their chances is now a lot weaker since BYU (Independent), Utah (Pac-10), and TCU (Big East) have all left.

I think the Big XII appealed to the NCAA and will continue to have a title game.
