I'll admit I visit the website to read ads and the romantic/dreaming side of me hopes one day I'll see a missed connection for me or a nice misc romance. However, I notice a trend of the heterosexual men seeking women ads tend to be extremely fit guys a lot more often than the gay ads. It's depressing. Like, why can't most gay guys be like that? The gay section is tons of disgusting dick pictures, asshole pictures, uglies, anorexic/drug abs, fatties, etc. Like, if you're 5'10", you shouldn't weigh 135 lbs or over 200 lbs...

Case of the grass is greener or am I right?

No one ever said any of the pictures on the M4F section were real.

RowBuddy saidI love reading those. They are hilarious. Of course I have never seen one written for ME (Maybe someday I will be noticed) but in the meantime I laugh.

"I saw you. You were wearing a black shirt. Message me if you want to meet"

I wore a black shirt once... maybe that one was for me?

Then there are the sex ones...

"I did you in a back alley behind a bar in Boystown, but I did not get your name. Want to do it again?"

    Classy.

Me too, i use craigslist for entertainment purposes. My fave would be those... meh i don't wanna be mean, a lot of people do crazy stuffs when they are horny haha.

Finding yourself in the missed connections section isn't all it's cracked up to be - especially if other people figure out it's about you before you even see it.

I read those for entertainment purposes. One day I went to the grocery store and saw a hot younger guy there that I would say was in his mid to upper 20's. Every time I went down and aisle, there he was and when I caught him looking at me, he would look away embarrassed. The next day, I made up an ad that was meant to be quite entertaining about this and he actually saw himself in the ad and responded. He is now a good friend. So you never know where and how you may meet someone. I still read them for entertainment though.

I've made epic lulz on Craigslist trolling the shit out of people, hubby has helped as well. Craigslist should be renamed Dregslist since it's the dregs of the single world on there.

I read the ads sometimes because they are HI-Lar-IOUS! icon_biggrin.gif
Haven't noticed differences in fitness, but you must be filtering for pictures. Those usually aren't as funny.
Hmm.... maybe for j-term I should teach a "How to read Craigslist for comedy course"...icon_idea.gif

(Oh, and much more socially taboo for straights to internet date than gays, I imagine this may result in a much more bimodal distribution of ... um, pedigree... as you get people too strange to meet others irl and people who feel hot enough to be confident posting. Just a shot in the dark guess though. Another possibility to account for the discrepancy, if there actually is one, might be more "eligible" gays migrating to dedicated dating sites, owing to their greater popularity among gays than straights. The only free dating site that I can think of that has a significant straight population is OkCupid. Oh. Actually, I think I know what the main reason is, but now I'm tired of typing...)

They are good for entertainment, I actually saw one about me once, nothing really came of it, we did grab drinks once, but that was it.

As far as the ads go, i think the better looking gay guys don't feel the need to use ads like craigslist, they find what they want just by being social. It seems to be mainly trolls or anti-social guys, and are pretty much only looking for quickies. And the straight ads seem to be looking for actual dates, not so much sex, and tend to be a bit more classy.

don't straight women usually say the same thing about gay men being better looking and have more to offer than straight men?

Yeah, it's pretty amusing to read CL for all the random crap on there. What's more interesting, and I've yet to get my head around. . . is that if you look under casual encounters and then M4T. . . .The guys there tend to be extremely fit as well, but they are always like "I'M STRAIGHT! no gays." I think I will never understand. Sigh!

Like gay men, straight men would like to have sex and a lot of it. Women are much more difficult than men in this area and they get sick of having to play all the games they do in order to have some fun. There are also of straight guys who are envious that gay men have this kind easy in getting some. So they turn to craigslist which actually one of the very few sites where they can go to have some casual fun.

I just checked out the site.... maybe it's your location- the Los Angeles M4W doesn't have many "serious/real" pictures and the ones that are, aren't very appealing- M4M does mostly have cock and ass pics- but the bodies on these guys are usually much much better:
