Our new prime minister, Welsh born Ms Gillard, before she was elected by the Greens and not the people of Australia in a speech before the Greens gave her the job of Prim Minister, she promised no carbon tax.

Now that Labour (Australia's left wing party) is in power, yet ruled by the Greens, it seems we are now going to get a new tax to help cool the planet, so people will not be able to afford electricity to use.

Darling Welsh women, when you can make it rain, when we need rain, and make it stop when we have had enough. I'll belive your new carbon tax will help cool the earth.

Anyways she is probably still going by the wrong math done on climate change, and dose not realise, it's not the wild issue the radicals have made out either, and it will be nothing m,ore than another worthless tax.

I think many miss the point on the carbon tax. It is not about the environment. Many proponents of the various Global Warming theories these days are becoming more open and stating it is not about the environment. It is about the tax.

This about it, democracies can legislate and cap carbon output without a tax. If you look at Texas, admittedly a very conservative state, they have ramped up wind power output as of this year to 13 percent, all without the hoopla of carbon limits, taxes, et al.

I think even the most jaded exponent of such a tax, i.e. liberals, would agree that those tax dollars would be better spent, if the goal truly is to reduce carbon emissions, by using that money in plant and equipment that will reduce carbon output, rather than moving those funds over in the social programs column.

Let's see how those guys deal with the above paragraph and you'll have your answer.

Up here our right wing gov't introduced all kinds of enviro levies and carbon taxes on our natural gas and gasoline.

    Our left wingers didn't.

As for saying one thing then doing another...

    Under John Howard....

"After John Howard said 'never ever' to GST, he then introduced GST well in advance of the 2001 election."

Global warming is a hoax. Climate expert Rush Limbaugh said so, so it must be true.

What's a Prim Minister? Someone who has the job of enforcing manners?

BTW, how does someone get elected in Australia by "Greens" and not by the Australian people? Did you have a coup over there or something?
