Standardsocal saidBeen in the ER since 11pm last night. Just got told I have a ruptured appendicitis and have to go into emergency surgery at 5 =[ this couldnt have come at worse time with finals just around the corner... But my health is more important right? Haha
Anyways, wish me luck! This is my first time going under the knife and I'm pretty scared =[
Also Happy 1st of December!
I had a ruptured appendix just before I turned 14. My parents knew I was very sick, because I rarely complained or made a fuss when I was ill (nor do I today).
But suddenly I felt like a plug had been pulled out of me, and I was just draining away, totally weak & helpless, and I collapsed in front of my parents. They rushed me to the hospital, the ER initially telling my parents I likely just had a stomach ache, a kid's complaint, and wanted to send me home.
My mother would hear none of it, and said if her son said he was sick, he was sick, PERIOD! No swallowed bubble gum, as the ER staff suggested, no mere belly ache. I think her commanding persistence saved my life.
A doctor finally determined I needed to be opened up, and my appendix burst right in front of them, as I was later told. In those days (1963), I spent another full week in the hospital recuperating.
Yeah, a ruptured appendix is still a big deal. But you'll be OK, the medicine a hundred times better than it was nearly 50 years ago.
So how are you communicating with us from the ER?
