I think I'm right there too. I woke up this morning with several symptoms and have been googling like a maniac all morning. I'm praying it's gas lol but will go to the DR later if it doesn't go away. Good luck man.

Had this a couple of years ago. Rupture appendix, ER visit, emergency surgery, 4 days in the hospital on IV antibiotics. Was doing fine after I left the hospital and 100% after 2 weeks. Hope all is well and you have a speedy recovery.

Hey man just to let you know my sister actaully just had this exact same thing happen to her less than 2 weeks ago and she came out of surgery just fine. Even if the appendix did rupture probably the worst that can happen is a longer surgery and 3-4 days in the hospital. Don't know if that makes you feel any better but thought it couldn't hurt haha.

Be sure to get up and walk around as much as you can afterwards when the they you can. It'll be sore but it keeps the adhesions away.

I had a ruptured appendix just before I turned 14. My parents knew I was very sick, because I rarely complained or made a fuss when I was ill (nor do I today).

But suddenly I felt like a plug had been pulled out of me, and I was just draining away, totally weak & helpless, and I collapsed in front of my parents. They rushed me to the hospital, the ER initially telling my parents I likely just had a stomach ache, a kid's complaint, and wanted to send me home.

My mother would hear none of it, and said if her son said he was sick, he was sick, PERIOD! No swallowed bubble gum, as the ER staff suggested, no mere belly ache. I think her commanding persistence saved my life.

A doctor finally determined I needed to be opened up, and my appendix burst right in front of them, as I was later told. In those days (1963), I spent another full week in the hospital recuperating.

Yeah, a ruptured appendix is still a big deal. But you'll be OK, the medicine a hundred times better than it was nearly 50 years ago.

So how are you communicating with us from the ER?

    This must be appendix week!

Mine did not rupture...but mine was removed with laproscopy on Saturday.

Had severe stomach pains late Thanksgiving night. My first though: "OMG did I poison everyone I fed today??"

Was better Friday morning, but settled into right side pain on Friday PM. ER doc did his tests. Admitted 3 AM on Saturday AM, surgery 7 AM.

    Hope you get better quickly!

So, how are you doing? Just to reiterate what a previous poster said- walk around as much as you can after surgery. It will be tough at first but gets easier. It helps to prevent adhesions but also normalize your blood cell counts. Take Care!

Going through recovery of a partly ruptured appendix right now and it's pretty horrible because I have to go it primarily alone.

I'm worried a bit about opiate addiction due to being constantly on Demerol while in the hospital. But the meds make the pain a walk in the park.

Overall this seriously hurts and bites!

opiate dependance is rare in the context of appropriate use.

Not treating pain would hamper your recovery.

You can ask your doctor to add a NSAID to your pain management regimen at discharge.

Had this about 15 years ago. Rest like crazy and WALK . . . LOTS. Had a complication and Dr.s wanted to go in for more cutting/exploration. Basically walked myself out of a second surgery, because the activity resolved the complication. Good luck. Lots of good thoughts your way.
