asking him is a pretty good way, as long as you lead up to it. works most of the time for me, and they rarely get offended if they're not. Another way is asking them out for a drink. Convo can be led around to the subject. Use your imagination, it holds not limits......Keithicon_cool.gif

It's quite difficult, yes the simple way would be to ask them but you could run the risk of offending them: they may think their masculinity is being challenged if they're already insecure with their sexuality (not sexual orientation). If someone asked me the question and I was straight I would think 'well why are you asking me?' 'Is it because I act gay?' 'Do people think I'm gay then?'. The best way is probably to ask them about what girls they're into and if it gets into sexual territory then you know they're most likely to be straight....or at least bisexual. Also if you asked them outright if they were gay they may feel that you're coming onto them and that could potentially be awkward and jeopardize the friendship (assuming you're friends with this guy).

Now to figure out whether a guy's bisexual, well that's a whole different topic to which I have no clue about lol icon_cool.gif

Good luck. By the way if you have a crush on this guy try not to get too serious with your emotions before you actually know if he's gay. Been there before and it hurt a lot.

Set a gay trap. It's relatively simple... At precisely 3pm on a sunny Wednesday afternoon, you set two boxes filled with certain things in them.
In box A) you place items like: the soundtrack to Yentl, a copy of Hope Floats, a blonde wig, some saltine crackers, and the latest issue of Birdhouses Monthly.
In box B) you place a thread of floss, a wrench, one black boot, yesterday's paper, and an old calendar with horses on the cover. Hang around and observe which one the guy chooses.
When he chooses one of the boxes it will be clear... but if he picks items from both, you're fucked (and not in a good way).

If you want to be a little more subtle than coming right out and asking him, you can ask him if he's ever been to (insert name of a local gay club or bar). If he says yes, chances are good that he is gay, bi, or, at the very least really open minded. Then you could ask if he'd like to go with you to the club or bar sometime. If he says yes, you can pretty much bet he is gay or bi and if you still aren't sure, he probably isn't the type to be offended if you just ask him directly.

Just ask. I asked a smoking hot dude from my class yesterday out. I said "Hey Ryan, how about dinner and a movie this weekend?" His reply; "No thanks I'm straight man.". To which I say "Eh, it was worth a shot." We both laughed, moved on.

What do you have to lose.
