So its a few weeks into the season, and after being able to go to the Battle of I-10 in EP last week, im pretty excited about the season. UTEP (where i went to school) is off to a great start at 6-1 including a sweep of our border rival NMSU and a win over Michigan! and of coarse my favorite team since i was little, Duke, is #1 so far and undefeated. Getting ready to go out with a buddy of mine whom i havent seen in forever to watch the Blue Devils take on the Spartans... Gonna be a tough matchup here... Thankfully its at home where the Cameron Crazies should be in full force!

lookin for more guys to talk sports with, not much around here in this area for sports fans for some reason...

    GO BLUEDEVILS!

I think Kentucky should have another good year even though they had a tough loss to UConn in Maui. I'm hoping they'll take the SEC again and go all the way. Sorry outlaw82 but, not loss of love here for Duke.
    Go Cats!!!

Kentucky does look good, even though they had that weird loss to the underrated huskies. where did they come from.

I'm a Florida Gator Fan, (and have ALWAYS BEEN even before they were good at all) then an SEC fan, so SHOCKED to hear GEORGIA is in the running to impress this year. GEORGIA? weird.

Not to high hopes for florida this year, we're still rebuilding, but NEXT YEAR watch out.

wish my alma mater GEORGE MASON would have a big showing again sometime but that prob aint gonna happen.

Poor Kyrie Irving. He could be out for the season. My heart goes out to the guy. I was really getting to like him.

Meanwhile baby face Andre Dawkins LIT IT UP against Bradley hitting 8 of 14 from behind the arc. I was so happy to see that cute young man who lost his sister last season in a car accident have his day in the spotlight.

So they say without Kyrie, Duke is with the rest of the pack. That may be true but they are still a strong contender to repeat.

Hopefully this year's Duke is like last years Kansas hehe... I'm thinking big upset from...Richmond, maybe Cleveland State in the 2nd round. Sounds like fun to me.

And of course my team should be back after a year hiatus after a 25 year tournament run... hey it happens ;)

UCF baby! Okay, we'll be lucky to win our tiny Sunbelt Conference regular season or tourney, but I gotta root for my school.

Isn't UCF in Conference USA? Anyway Cincinnati Bearcats 9-0!! Go Cats!!

How about Tennessee beating Pitt, then losing to Oakland icon_eek.gif

I saw something coming Oakland's way. I kept seeing the scores where they were playing the big boys closely and thought who the hell is Oakland? Then, they almost beat Michigan st and I thought, no really, who the hell is this Oakland team. Keep in eye on them when braketology begins.

I'm a huge UConn fan. Guys went from unranked to #4 while knocking off #2 & #9. So far so good. UConn girls... well what can you say... Still extending the longest winning streak in history.

Bad year for my Tar Heels, but I can usually bank on Dook getting ousted prematurely in the second round- which I enjoy immensely.

I know they won it last year (against the weakest pool of competitors in maybe a decade), but they won't do it again, or likely even come close.

Wow! That really DOES sound like a bad year for you poor Tar Heel fans. Even if Duke doesn't win it all you still have to watch them take the ACC and kick your team's ass. Oh and you also get to watch Coach K pass Dean Smith for all time wins. And if Duke doesn't win it all it you get to watch a team like Kansas win it. Wait a minute! Didn't you guys rob them of their coach a few years back? Well it seems they didn't Self (pun intended) destruct after all. I guess you did them a favor.

I am one Duke fan who does not hate the Tar Heels. I was down right chipper when you guys beat Kentucky.

HUGE Duke fan since 7th grade so I will always belligerently root for them. Irving's injury hurts us (no pun intended) because the defense will key in on Singler more than usual. I think that the ACC is down this year, relatively speaking, so Duke will have a decent chance to get through conference play without any major blemishes on their resume. Great year to be a Dukie!

I went to high school in East Lansing, so I feel lots of love for Izzo. The team seems to be going through the motions right now because of injuries. I'm more concerned about them in conference play because the league as a whole is much tougher than last year. Penn State is a bottom feeder, but the rest of the league is tougher than last year.

Still crossing my fingers for Northewestern to get a bid to the dance, but the UGLY loss to St. John's is going to hurt them come tournament time. I understand playing patsies in non-conference play, but if they have fluke conference losses like last year (Iowa, Penn State TWICE, and Indiana in OT) they'll be NIT bound yet again.

Wisconsin beat #1 Ohio State today. They also beat a #1 ranked Ohio State in football. Packers win the Super Bowl. If not for the Milwaukee Bucks Wisconsin would really have it going on.

The Bucks aren't terrible and may actually make the playoffs. Too bad about Bogut's injury last season, that set the team back but he's playing pretty good again.

They recently got a pep talk from their owner, Sen. Herb Kohl. I think he really laid down the law.
