Too Healthy?

Have you ever been told by someone that you are TOO healthy? Some people at my office have said that to me a number of times and although I know they don't mean it in a condescending manner I find it a bit strange and quite funny. One co-worker told me that I need to 'have fun' when I eat, which I'm sure to her meant that I need to eat fast food and trans-fat laden sweets. Someone else told me that I go to the gym too much and that I am 'manorexic' about my appearance. I just want to look good and be healthy. I enjoy eating 'clean' foods that are seasoned and prepared well because they taste good and are good for me. What's wrong with that??? I do indulge in 'bad' food a couple times a week but I don't eat it every day at every meal.

Hell, I could be like half of them and be overweight and tell myself "I can't wait until I weight 325lbs., can't walk properly, have digestive issues, not see my 'pride and joy,' and clog my arteries with HFCS and trans fats! Yay! I can't contain myself because it's ALWAYS been my dream to be overweight and un-healthy by the time I'm 55!" icon_rolleyes.gif

Haha! Yes, all the time! But I actually enjoy eating food that is good for me. It's all in the seasoning!

5 ft 11 inches and 158 lbs...you could use 20 lbs of healthy body, which will occur as age and gravity do their bit helped along with more HEALTHY food.

I used to weigh 138 at 6 ft.

Don't worry about comments that you are "too healthy". . . or about people who encourage you to eat junk food, etc. They probably mean well, but just let the remarks go and stay on the right track.

Many, many persons regularly try to adopt an healthier lifestyle and fails.
They they talk about it with friends and co worker, and most had the same experience, diets that doesn't last, gym membership used for a few weeks only, home workout machine never really used etc...

They end up with the feeling it's the rule, it's normal.

Seeing someone who is consistent in his healthy lifestyle choice make them feel a bit uneasy. Because, either they need to see themselves as lazy ass, or they need to see yourself with some obsessive behavior.

Less damaging for their ego to assume the later than the former, even when both might be right ;-)

I've been told I'm too healthy, or a health nut, or workout too often, etc. etc. etc.
I just remind them they're jealous because they're fat and too lazy to do anything about it.
    Shuts them up quickly. icon_biggrin.gif

When I was dealing with the Staph related infection, I had several people ask me, "How could you get this, you are so healthy". One friend said "maybe you try too hard to be too healthy".

    I disagreed.

Whenever anyone tells you that you have to "have more fun with eating", tell them to mind their own business (and look in the mirror).

People feel guilty for not taking better care of their own bodies, hence the comments.

People bust my balls for getting sick with a cold or the flu, which is like 3 times a year. Just because I take care of myself and work out, it doesn't stop me from getting a cold.

    I'm healthy, not superman.icon_lol.gif

Yeah, I get it all the time, but mainly from people who are astonishingly un-healthy.

And it's not as if I just eat berries and nuts--I'm a pretty adventurous foodie and love going out for beers with my pals. But sedentary people for whom potato chips, soda drinks and ham and cheese biscuits are everyday foods seem to think I'm some sort of freak of nature.
