Have you ever read a thread you thought was stupid? Found only one person constantly raising the dead issues of yesterday that noone really like anyways? Do you think that argueing with them is almost pointless, and want to finally shut them up?

Than maybe you should join me in boycotting stupid threads. If noone else responds to these annoying threads, I'm citing myself, McGay and Ikaros and the perpetrators and unwilling instigators in the thread in question. The thread that won't be named so we don't draw more people to respond to it... if you're with me?

    Hi Boi

I'll join your gang and boycott pointless threads (If I have to read one more thing about g0ys I'll scream).

Here's a rule I think we should follow. If the thread is in the 'All things Gay' section and isn't about things Gay (GYAC seal clubbing ain't a Gay issue) then ignore it.

    Loz

Ha ha... I just finally read the thread in question today in it's entirety. I had never even seen it before today but I've seen people reference the term in other threads and felt a bit out of the loop. All I can say is WOW!

I have to admit I had to fight the urge to post when I read it at 6:30am this morning. I did so because it really seemed that everything that could be said was said more times than should have been necessary.

I will say though in fairness to other "newbies" to RJ, that you should allow some slack for those who did not have an opportunity to post and may have something new to add.

I won't post to it though! I promise! No really! I'm not crossing my fingers... honest! icon_twisted.gif

Err, no, if it's the thread(s) I'm thinking of, I have never brought one back to life. I only participate when the damned things are suffering bronchial fits.

Oh I've got nothing against McGay and Ikaros, they're some of my favorite reads. They were only referenced in this post because them and I all were partially responsible for the "rebirth" of the horrible thread in question. Just enough so those other people who bothered enough to have knowledge of the annoying thread with the guy posting to himself would be able to jump on this thread and stop any unwarranted free publicity to that sexual insecure queen whose got st.patrick rolling in his grave.

My finely honed Stupid Thread Filter must be working. I missed the thread.

Now I have to fine tune my STF some more, since this thread managed to get thru.

    Laurence,

I understand your need for order on RealJock, and I wish I could be the one make it easier to delegate which posts go to which forums, but until they get enough gays, lesbians, transvestites, transexuals, unsure, confused, bisexual, omnisexual and pansexual people on this website; I don't think they're going to reformate the layout anytime soon. Tom on myspace had to sell his company and the rights to it's name before he could even begin he started his overhaul and prostituting of the once glorious myspace.com. So, I've chosen to take in stride. Nothing about this site itself really bothers me yet. I'm not totally grounded in it yet, but if I was you Loz I'd send a message/not a complaint to the people in charge of/or taking messages for this website.

I've avoided that thread since it started...it's just the same thread, different board/forum.

I agree that, if you ignore it, it will go away. Replying to those types of people just feeds them...keeps them going.

Oh, is Hippie the one they are talking about? Well, then that explains my missing it and not knowing who they were talking about, because I am boycotting his threads.

But I didnt need thread to tell me to do that! ... icon_lol.gif

Or we could all simply tread lightly and refrain from posting when we don't have something worthwhile to say, or feel nothing worthwhile is being said.

Oops. Apparently I can't take my own advice.

They should have an Ignore button so that the thread disappears when you press it.

Other sites have this facility and it's helpful in getting rid of irritating threads.

Lmao! Hahaha, that exactly right. The quote works perfectly with this situation.

Congrats on making a third g0y thread. Sheesh.

Besides, there are people who visit this site far less often than us regulars, and most topics might actually be new to them.

If you think you're seeing something appear too many times on RJ then perhaps you should simply shut down the laptop and go out and play. As for me, I'm not bothered.

    paradox said
[cite]RyanOji said[/cite]You sure do enjoy research that is inconsequential to the disscussion, don't you Paradox? icon_rolleyes.gif

I'm not the one who raised the issue of that ridiculous list of groups as evidence of the g0y movement's growth. The reason I responded is that is only one of three huge ridiculous lists in g0yville that I've run across. Here are the other two:

    http://g0ys.net/
    http://g0yz.com/

I'd assumed that the huge number of Yahoo groups were created for promotional purposes. But, to claim the huge number of discussion groups is evidence of the movement's popularity, when the vast majority of them contain little or no discussion, is just plain dishonest.

"Uhm, guys... First rule of g0y club?"

I don't have a problem with people wanting to boycott this or any other topic. There are certainly lots of topics that I boycott, like those "guy above you" topics, which are as stupid to me as this thread is to others. But, I have no obligation to boycott a topic just because someone else thinks it's stupid.
Don't be silly... noone expects you to do anything. I'm boycotting, yeah, but since when is it an obligation to join because the option is open? The only thing I wanted to do is to avoid contribute to retarded thread that was only be fed by spiteful people looking to ruffle someone's feathers, for the sake of getting attention. It's pointless and imature. Now what kind of person who understand boycotting stupidity would have a reason to purpetuate it for no other reason than to watch someone else be annoyed? Any takers? You're calculated antagonism is noted and though it did manage to bother me, it too will only belittle your credibility in my opinion; though I'm sure you don't really care, along with most people on this site. No one cares...

So, boi made a point of clicking on a topic he thinks is stupid and should be boycotted. The result: he saw what I posted, copied and pasted it here, lashed out angrily at me, and hid/deleted his account. The part of my comment that pissed him off was me responding very calmly to the suggestion that there is a "rule" about not posting on the g0ys topic. It was not "calculated antagonism" of any sort on my part, and I'm certainly not getting any kicks out of his being unhappy about this.

That said, this drama is a perfect example of giving away ones power. With respect to stupid topics, I say to myself, "These are stupid topics, and I'm not going to participate on them." In the case of the "guy above you" topics, I don't click on them, and it's almost as if they don't even exist. The result? I am happy! I am relaxed!.

Boi, on the other hand, says publicly on the forum, "These are stupid topics. Please join me in boycotting them." And, then, when the topic is not boycotted, he insists on clicking on it, only to be pissed off by what the non-boycotter has written. He gave away his power and made someone else responsible for his serenity. It's unfortunate that boi is feeling bad about this, but maintaining his serenity is not part of my job description, and I'm not sorry for posting on the g0ys topic. If a topic is that disturbing to you, don't click on it.

I don't get it, and I don't want to get it. Funny, I was having fun surfing from profile to hot list to posting, and ended up here. I don't want to know, and I did; I'd want to forget any way possible. Maybe whomever started this thread ended this the only way he knew how. Oh well! It's a dead topic as far as I'm concerned. This isn't anywhere near the top of the list of recent forums... and I'm sorry I had to kick around it's dead corpse to see that.
