    Hey guys,

For those who follow the music industry, I have a random question for you. For almost 12 years, Britney and Christina have been the top pop stars of our generation (im only 24, so its my generation ha). I've noticed, however, that each lady has had a turn with being in the front lines of the public eye, meaning neither has ever released an album at the same time. Their singles never competed, albums never competed, and they have never had conflicting tours. Do you think that was planned? Also, Britney has always been #1 with releases and in terms of popularity while Christina has had a few missteps. Today we are in a Gaga world where people love her. Early 2011 will see the new Gaga album in Feb, the new Spears album in March, and Aguilera will be rereleasing (i think its a bad idea) Bionic as well. I think 2011 will be an interesting year for pop music. I think it will be interesting to see how Britney does both statistically and musically in a post-Gaga era, and i am curious to see how Christina fares. She needs a few good hits in her direction because her albums of late have only done so so.

So enough of my ramblings. If you can figure out what im trying to say, what do you think?

    Britney, of course.

Britney already has proven time after time that she does not have any competition.

Even after the GaGa craze. "3" debuted at #1 without a video, any interviews, or any performances by Britney, but just a press release about her 2nd Greatest Hits album.

Britney rules supreme, and as Lady GaGa said, "Britney Spears is the Queen of Pop."

Spears and aguilera competed in 99' but 2011 will be interesting. Looking forward to what both Britney and gaga have in store. Both women will do well as their fanbases are hard core. Aguilera doesn't interest me though.

Personally and this is just my opinion..
Britney while i love her and GaGa are gimicks.

While Christina has made some huge mistakes IMO with her latest album Bionic.. I guess i'm one of the few that did liked back to basics. She's only really had 5 albums.. self titled, stripped, back to basics, bionic and a spanish album.. Back to basics was a fun album for me but a lot of the songs on there are an aquired taste i guess. If you can't stand the older style of music then yeah, i'd understand why you'd not like it.

compared to the other two she's just got a stronger voice that sends chills through ones body. Sometimes it's off tune as many would argue.. She was amazing even in burlesque.

Over all i like christina over Britney (even though i can listen to britney's bouncey songs because they're fun).. Don't even get me started on lady gaga..

Yeah, can we please remember MA-FUCKING-DONNA will be releasing an album next year?

Sure, much later than any of these girls... but still. She's not gonna waste an opportunity for brilliance like she did with Hard Candy. I have no doubt.

Anyway, back to being a rational being.

I think Britney will reign, particularly if Gaga doesn't come up with a monster of a first single like Bad Romance. There's much more pressure on the latter than on the former, especially because the former is really, really nuts and probably doesn't lose sleep over her music career icon_lol.gif

As far as Xtina, Bionic was a disjointed work of incredibly narcissistic proportions... and yet, it had a few songs that were super good, aligned to the crap that we're used to listening to by a thousand other artists... but of course, with Christina's voice, which is unparalleled. I think the press/people decided they just didn't want to support her, and that was that. But Bionic deserved to do better than it did. A re-release with a new Beautiful or Fighter could do her well.

Back to Basics is brilliant. A work of actual artistic merit. The singles (Hurt being the exception) were the worse, less inventive songs on the album. But I mean.... Understand, Prey, Mercy, Save Me From Myself, Still Dirty, Back In The Day... fantastic.

Honestly in the end Britney is the winner of this pop diva race. Statistics are irrelevant. I mean...it's Britney.

Britney and Christina both came out in 1999, and both competed, while Aguilera undeniably has a better voice, Britney appeals more and has always had a stronger fanbase. we can all agree that Britney is that College girl being dirty while Aguilera is just the slut.. icon_razz.gif
I am a Britney fan and always will be, though i appreciate Christina's music.
As far as Lady Gaga goes (not a fan btw, but likes a few songs), she cant compete with Spears or Aguilera, they have paved their own way through the years and Gaga is just now coming out and making her way. I wont deny that she is a great performer, but they belong to different eras.
Britney will do amazingly well next year, and im sure Gaga will do too. Christina stated that she was already working on a new project, so i wouldn't think a re-release of Bionic could be possible.. but you never know.
anywho. thats my take on this lol.

.. its britney. who can compete? icon_razz.gif

Britney will have the biggest statistic and economic success.

Christina Aguilera will have the best vocal success.

Lady Gaga will have the most artistically ambitious and influent success.

... How can we compare those three ?

Britney Spears is a classic, Christina's a vocal bomb, and Lady Gaga is a frontier destroyer. We like them for what they are...

I wish them 3 huge success in 2011 and I'll be waiting for the 2 albums (considering that I already have Bionic and loved it)

The only artist that I'm not sure is Britney, on the performing aspect. I wish she gets new choreographer and throw the heels away to be able to dance again like how we liked it. Her last tour was kinda painful to me as I couldn't see the real groundbreaking "bitch" in the amazing entertainer that Britney used to be.

    ...

I don't think Madonna is in this war. She's just... Madonna !

Nonetheless, I think we forgot Beyonce here. Not sure if she'll release anything in 2011 though...

Or, you can like all 3 for different reasons without having to compare them in the first place.

Yeah. That's what I was trying to illustrate haha...

I don't think we can compare them.

Elvis and Michael Jackson are probably the two biggest male entertainers in the world and I think it'd be awful to even try to compare them.

For me, this is not music but entertainment.

I find my own musical figures on the independant scene, not on the commercial one.

Nowadays, I don't think we can find real "music" on the top of the charts.

Edit => Only exception. I think the acoustic piano remixes of Gaga are somehow "music". She definiftely has a musical talent, in my opinion. Unfortunately, her talent's infected by fame.

Britney and Gaga can and will coexist just fine. They represent two very different ideals and have completely different gimmicks.

The reason Christina Aguilera and Gaga butted heads is because theirs are very similar. Both have strong vocals, both push the envelope, both write their own material, both platinum blonde. Where Christina obviously made her biggest misstep was in treading too close to Gaga visually. The album was solid, actually, and, sonically, was a very unique, very Christina-sounding body of work.

If Christina wants to be successful again, I think it would be wise to incorporate all of the sounds of her past with a genre and look that's uniquely her. Do things that Lady Gaga cannot do vocally. It might be a slow, frustrating road to recovery, but she'll get there.

Gaga will be fine. She took a much-needed break. And if this album is as good she continues to talk up, she'll be set for the next few years. Though, I'd love if she would skip the occasional borderline-desperate shock tactics and keep it about the music. She's a fine songwriter and could hold our attention with her talent.

Evidently Britney is working on a project that's being called "grimy." If it falls somewhere between In The Zone and Blackout, she'll be on to something. As long as there is some artistry there (In The Zone was surprisingly well composed, in my opinion) I'll be a happy camper.

Britney has been going down hill. She will have to come up with something really catchy to make it back to number 1.

Christina is pretty much over. She can sing her ass off but who cares now and days? Her voice is only good for ballads. I can't even recall the last time a female ballad made it to number 1 on billboard hot 100. I think right now the charts are filled with dance songs. So she really has nothing going for her.

Lady GaGa will dominate the charts because she is so fucking weird and catchy.

Katy Perry is currently dominating the others right now, but that's cuz she just came out with a bunch of good hits. But I think Katy is only in the limelight because Ga Ga is busy writing her next album, which will PWN 2011. Meanwhile Spears and Aguilera will never fully recover their past fame. Britney is more of a tool, but she'll probably get some talented Asian to make a few good more tracks before her age catches up to her and people realize it's asymmetrical from all the drugs she's been taking. Aguilera will find her fame in a niche, like singing at the top of her lungs in an Opera or Broadway or being that girl that screams "rape" in a box office smash hit. They're just nostalgia now. Ke$ha will fall too after her second album, which will sound exactly like her first album and get "boo" for review.

Meanwhile, Cher is still alive and Madonna still thinks she's 20.

I like all of them, to be honest.

I like Britney because she's a hot mess and in terms of pure pop there's not really anyone else that compares.

I like Christina because she is a bit more experimental. I did like Bionic overall, though there are perhaps 4 tracks I just don't like at all on it.

I like Gaga because her songs are insanely catchy and she's kooky.

I've not seen Christina perform live (I was hoping she would tour Bionic but I guess didn't as it didn't do that well) but Gaga smashed Britney to a pulp when it comes to live performance. All Britney did really was grind around lip-synching, it was fun to watch but Gaga's concert was a real extravaganza.

I would throw Pink into the mix but I guess she's not releasing anything next year having just brought out greatest hits and she'll be having a baby so presumably taking time off!

I think there is a place for all three of them.

GaGa is a phenomenon in a way that eclipsed the other two even when they were at the height of their popularity and I think she is definitely talented. Not sure if she will be one of those stars that burns super bright for a while and then burns out fast. I hope not.

Spears has star power although she isn't vocally as strong as the other two (still she is way more talented than most pop stars) and that doesn't seem to have hurt her one bit. I see her doing the Vegas thing in about 10 years like Cher's current gig there.

Aguilera has an amazing voice. My bet is on her to still have a viable career 15 years from know IF she can figure out the right musical direction to go in. I see her peaking in her 40s like Tina Turner did back in the mid 80s.
