Or being called "faggot" and other various names under people breath at work. Not sure how to document this stuff. But it's becoming more than a little uncomfortable.

Well, unless you're hearing people on the street and people in your building or family or wherever you live and socialize saying the same things under their breath at you I doubt you're crazy. icon_wink.gif

Sounds more like a little on the job bigotry.

Well, you're in Salt Lake City, one of the least gay tolerant cities in the world.
    You've got several choices:
    --Ignore them
    --Stand up to them
    --Move

Working toward the last line item as hard as I can.

Address it head on. Don't ignore it. When someone wispers that under their breath, say "Did you just call me a faggot?" You'll be surprised how quickly it stops when you call them out on it.

Agreed with this. Call them on it. If you have more trouble, pass it up the chain of command. If management takes no action, the company is guilty of sexual harassment as broadly defined.

I think it all depends on what type of employment he has. Utah is an "at will" state ( just like Nevada). Employment at will means your employer can fire you without cause. A lot of at-will employees in Utah don’t realize they are employed under at-will employment policies. Any hiring is presumed to be "at will"; that is, the employer is free to discharge individuals "for good cause, or bad cause, or no cause at all. icon_confused.gif

Yup, you can threaten to get their asses fired for it, no kidding... even if you notice they treat you differently you could still report them for bigotry, which is entirely illegal in the workplace in the US (I believe)

It's all a matter of proof....without proof and witnesses to affirm his statements/accusations..he will be wasting his time. There are too many myths going around concerning job security when dealing with an "at will" employer. Many people like to think sue this and sue that...but very few actually gain anything from it.

Slice their tires, pour sugar in their gas tank, then spray paint. "Who's the faggot now?" On the side of their car.
