For me it depends on the person's personality --- I think cuteness has a lot to do with that. If their personality is young, fresh and charming in a more lively way it wouldn't matter what age they were. At times I have thought of some guys in their thirties as 'cute'.

I would much rather date a cute guy than anything else. Cute to me is more than just a look, it also includes personality. You can be 50 and still be cute in my eyes. icon_biggrin.gif

Agreed. When someone is 'cute', not only do they have a good personality, but the most important thing is that they are also revealing themselves in an honest, genuine manner. That to me, is really important. You can fake confidence and looking 'hot' but faking cuteness just comes off as looking contrived.

Take "cute" as a compliment no matter how old you are. Like getting carded when you want to buy beer. In your 20s, it's insulting. Then when you get older and they never ask, you wish they would.

To me cute has always meant hot in a non-threatening way. I dont think it really depends on the age at all.

This is to describe people. If a puppy is cute, it isnt because he is hot.

I don't use the word 'hot' that often to describe guys I like, so I usually refer to any guy I find attractive as cute

I get it all the time and I take it as a compliment, but still found it odd being in my 40's. But this is definitely an interesting perspective that I rather like icon_smile.gif

Actually, your post doesn't make you sound cute, handsome, gorgeous, beautiful, or any of the other labels you'd rather receive.

Cute's the way a guy carries himself.
I've met guys who look like boys, but walk like men... they are hot, sexy and desirable. The word "cute" fades quickly from my mind.

Well, look at it this way: Whenever you talk about cute things, what do you usually mean? Probably something like kittens and puppies or something. Yeah, they're fun to look at, but there's also a belittling factor to it--like you haven't grown into your full potential. Some could even take it as far as to mean it's emasculating, even though that's probably not what the person giving the compliment intended.

Contrast that with calling someone hot; it's pretty much the opposite. I don't think anyone who's complimented as being cute--I get it all the time--thinks they're being insulted. It's just that there's a connotation that comes with it that feels less than adequate.

Besides, sometimes we just want to be thought of as hot once in a while.
