Nice to compare how the Chinese doing this compared to poor California.

Not hard to imagine how the western world will just get majorly pwnd by our new capitalist friends in the next 50 years.

The California high speed rail seems like a big waste of money. Unless the train fare is cheaper than a plane ticket, no one will ride it.

But I do like the idea of a high speed rail system that goes across the country. That makes more sense.

Several high-speed rail projects in the US saw a glimmer of hope after Obama got elected and are now dead projects. I was sad to see that the Cleveland to Cincinnati rail project is dead thanks to the new governor and that money has been sent to other states. But, it's nice to see the project still going forward in Florida (even though it no longer goes to Miami). I know I would ride the train in Florida instead of driving back and forth from Orlando to Ft Lauderdale. But, I guess I'll have to wait a long time for that. Tampa gets a nice boost, though.

I'm sure that it will be cheaper than a plane. There is a lot of business conducted between LA & Frisco. And there will be new businesses created at every terminal.

We need mass transit every metro area. We need something like China is doing. We have really done nothing to prepare for peak oil.....we are going to wait for it to happen and then deal with it...which is stupid.

Pretty much all that ever happens re hi speed rail in Canada and the USA is "another study" They've been "studying" it here for the past 30 years between Windsor/Detroit - Toronto - Montreal.
Worse is that the worlds biggest manufacturer of hi speed and passenger rail is Bombardier, a Canadian company.
We'll probably end up with a made in China one though because it'll be cheaper icon_twisted.gif
