My friends & I are going to Medellin, Colombia for New Year's Eve. My friends & I want to go to Rio de Janeiro, Brazil but change it to the last minute. We are going to Rio on Carnival instead. I've been to Medellin, Colombia and I know we will have a great time there! Cheers!! HAPPY NEW YEAR!!icon_biggrin.gif

I've been ordered back to New York City by my friends, but I honestly don't know if I can follow those orders after all the Xmas shopping is done.

What, no coffee date with me again this year? I promise not to try and butt-rape you in the bathroom this time.

I generally either stay at home and have a quiet New Years Eve or at a party
not too far a distance... had a couple of bad "traffic" experiences in college and decided to spend most very locally. Have had a few great exceptions, like in 1999 (to 2000) and a few others. Generally my bf is not with me on New Years Eve or else we'd be involved in front of the fireplace no doubt.

Wow, great plans posted here. We have none, other than a private local party with about 25-30 friends.

And what will slide down the pole at midnight? icon_wink.gif

BTW, I was told that drag queen Sushi is coming out of retirement to descend in the giant ruby high heel in Key West at midnight one more time. At least that's what the management at Bourbon Street Pub/New Orleans House told us last month, where the Sushi Drop is done.

The slipper is displayed on the hotel balcony the rest of the year, right outside the French doors of the suite we always take. That might be something for us to consider next year. But this year we were already in KW in November, and we're booked for a full week there again in February, so January seemed a bit much. Especially after his October heart attack.

Actually I didn't know much about the Drop, despite having seen the huge slipper outside our door, until someone on RJ asked me about it. That might be something for south Florida guys to consider attending. I understand CNN covers it live, yet have never seen it myself, but I'll try to watch it this New Year's.

    And here's Sushi, in 2008:

Here's my partner in the same shoe (with face blurred) outside our door last month:

A wider shot of the balcony over Duval Street, the high heel at the far end. That suspended harlequin figure is where they set up a crane to lower Sushi to the street below at midnight:
