The French interior minister find it 'disproportionate' to send in jail 7 cops who made a up false claims of attempted murder on one of them by a man who run away during a car control.

The cops build a false case which, if it had succeeded, could have send the man in jail for a lifetime.

The judge give them jail time between 6 month and one year.

You should know that our president was elected out of the way he played with insecurity feelings, advocating strong repression to get the more extreme right wing votes.

Sound like he is willing to exacerbate tension and media attention on the topic, in hope to get reelected despite all time lower popularity.

It may also be voluntary gross show to divert media attention from his former budget minister suspected of corruption.

Whatever the reason, it's in line a trend in our administration to publicly criticize justice and try to limit it independence.

Going against one of the most fundamental element of democracy, the separation of powers.

Well buddy, all I can say is, welcome to the reality of what its like here in American Politics too. But I don't think its any different in any country, There will always be politicians selling themselves, by using religion or social issues to gain attention and backing from the masses to try and deflect from the real issues, or cover over something about themselves they don't want known. I've spent some time there in France and learned from my Daughter who lived in Marsseille, france for 3 months. I was impressed by how things went there for Education, health care and such. In every country there's crooks, so don't feel alone, just get to know the republican party over here, they're the ones who toute religion but have the worst record of abuses of power.

    Thank RealLifeDad.

I have the feeling our president studied in depth how Bush managed to manipulate opinion and get his way, and is trying to apply the same concepts in the context of France population and culture.
