I was just wondering if I am alone with this. I have nothing against Christmas, but I just dont want to celebrate it at all and hope the rest of this month goes by FAST! No wonder suicides skyrocket this time of the Year.

I absolutely hate Christmas music, the rest of it I don't mind.. but the music, dear god make it stop... and where I work, they start playing Christmas music the DAY after Halloween. FML

I don't need any religious connection to celebrate and enjoy Xmas. To me its just some random day chosen to be colorful and a great excuse to claim gifts, visit my family and get time off from work. If it wasn't for Xmas the beguinning of the winter would be so depressing and boring. Why in the world would I go against Xmas?

Based on my own experience, a lot of people who hate Xmas are not very close to their families.

Everyone says I am a Grinch...
I don't hate Christmas.. I just think that there are to many people who only have the Christmas spirit just for Christmas.

A lot of people hate Xmas cause they don't have who to celebrate it with, or they feel like their available options arent worth a celebration.

    Personal example:

If my dad asks me to join him for Xmas there's a 90% chance I won't show up and Ill just stay home watching TV seriously fuck Xmas( he lives 30 mins drive). If my mom asks me to join her for Xmas there's a 99.9% I'll be there considering I can travel to Cuba.

For me its less the Religion behind it that gets me down, its more like Charlitos said that there is nothing to celebrate for me.

I generally don't like xmas either. My family is pretty religious, and sorta make it all about Jesus. I enjoy getting to visit with family, but I much prefer Thanksgiving for that. At least then it's not all about "Do you believe in Jesus yet? Why not?"
I can't make it back to visit family this year for either holiday, so I'm going snowboarding all day instead. Hopefully everyone else here will be home with their families, so I can have the mountain to myself.

I really don't hate the religious aspects of Christmas though. I also don't mind Hanukkah, Easter, Halloween, etc. The things that really get to me are the music, the smell of peppermint everywhere (it makes me sneeze), and the traffic at stores. I hate it when family tries to convert me to Christianity every time I go back around Christmas, but getting to visit with family is worth it despite the petty annoyances like that. Again, Thanksgiving is WAY better. :-)

That's because last Christmas, I gave you my heart. And the very next day, you gave it away.
    Wait, nevermind, that's depressing.
    Christmas music blows.

My family is fairly close, we're not against religion (we treat it like a cult for those who need it) and we're not hippies, haha. We never really placed value on christmas, ya we did gifts when my sister and i were little because every other kid got to do it, but now we tend to just attempt to get together because its a time that most of us are available and we go for nice dinners and drink good wine icon_biggrin.gif

Frankly, Starbucks christmas drinks are about the closest we get to being festive...

it's a family thing and i enjoy it although i find it exhausting.
We pick names, exchange gifts, have huge meals, stay up way late,
organize little outings or movie sit-ins etc.

none of the "nativity " thing anymore although somewhere deep in my catholic conditioning, there remains a small microgram of mysticism usually quickly overrun by common sense.

I'm really indifferent to Christmas until Christmas Eve, which is when I do all my present wrapping. I put carols on and get all festive haha

I don't like Christmas for precisely this reason, my father killed himself just after last New Years.

I kind of like decorating for christmas, but I don't exchange gifts (which really confuses my relatives) and enjoy an nice meal with relatives, but thats about it. I'd rather have a couple friends over once and a while and fix them fresh pasta, hang out and drink beer instead of save all that up for once a year.
