Anybody else here dealing with unemployment?

I am in a technical field and demand has dropped off for my specialty. I have not worked since April. We get our jobs through technical recruiters and nobody is calling or emailing regarding contracts. I network, call them, email them, check the job boards, but nothing.

Sure I could get a job tomorrow at WalMart or McDonalds but I would hate it worse than being unemployed.

This summer I volunteered 4x week doing I.T. work for two large non-profits whohave their HQ here in town but finally told myself that even though it was interesting and fun and nice people, they weren't going to be hiring me either and volunteering certainly wasn't putting any money in the bank, so left them when I finished up a big project for each.

Upside is that I get to the gym 3x week and run 3x week, but am spending way too much time on the computer. Single, so no wife or kids to drag me back to reality.

    Anybody else? Bueller?

If the temps don't warm up and STAY warm for a while, I may be unemployed before long.
These record-breaking lows are fucking killing my job, because nobody wants banners flown over empty beaches.
On top of that, I'm supposed to be at work right now but it's too cold to get out of bed (only have two electric space heaters that barely knock the chill off).
