Never trade-in your car at a dealership... Privately sell it...You would make more off of it.

Just go buy another car, then put your old one up for sale. Stick a high price tag on it. That way you won't be in a rush to sell it, and you can hold out for the highest bidder.

I'm faced with the same problem... I don't have enough money to go out and buy 370z.. I need to save for it, get a loan and sell my car... If I trade in my car, I would loose over a 1000 bucks for it as opposed to selling it to someone else where I can keep that 1000 dollars and apply it to my down payment...

    Um...never buy new!
    Buy an 'off-lease' car.
Buy used car from Enterprise Car Rental. (Consumer Reports ranks them highest)
Buy a "factory dealer demo".(usually sold as 'used' but with full factory warranty)

...you loose the most value of a car the minute your ink hits the dotted line!
There's always some egotistical person who just has to have the latest car/truck and then trades it in with less than a year on it! I've gotten good deal over the years with all the above.

Yeah, dealers are scum, sell it on your own. I also have to agree to never buy a new car. My current car had 40,000 miles on it when I bought it. I paid $7000 less than new, paid it off in four years, and have owned it for seven. 92,000 miles.

Which tells you I go nowhere. icon_rolleyes.gif

do you consider the resale value of a vehicle when you are looking to purchase one?
