Christmas is definitely best spent up north with the beautiful white snow of winter. So you are heading in the right direction in your travels. Have a safe and happy holiday season.

The warmest of Merry Christmases to you, reallifedad. Bill and I are in the den downstairs listening to 'Christmastime is Here' (Charlie Brown, lol), Bill playing solitaire on his PC and me with you on mine.

You will be in my neck of the woods. Although it has been cold and the only snowstorm we've had has not melted, unless you are going to be near the lake shores where some places are now measuring snow in feet, the weather has not been that terrible.

Since I have no family in the area, I am going to spend the day driving across the state to the Lake Michigan side with my friend to surprise her grandmother that is in a nursing home. Her grandmother is thinking she is going to be all alone for Christmas.

    Merry Christmas to all!

Merry Christmas to all of you too. I'll be spending the morning with my kids and ex, watching them dig into gifts and scarf down the 'Christmas casserole' and spending the afternoon with my bf for our first Christmas together. Fixing dinner for us and my roommate and his friend. The day after with my kids at my place, opening gifts here.

I just accepted delivery of a most remarkable and generous Christmas hamper!A van of people I do not know just pulled in and two rather handsome men and a woman marched in with two boxes of everything needed for an entire Christmas dinner - and more - including cookies, treats, and even a bag of gifts.

Much of the shopping I had planned on getting tomorrow, I no longer need to buy and I am utterly speechless (a rare thing for me!) And I do not even know whom i can thank! (other than to send thanks through the AIDSPEI office. I know the local CBC station has been collecting turkeys, so I feel pretty certain the staff of CBC is involved in this somehow.

So we are going to " show our thanks" by inviting some people to share the bounty in a special Boxing Day Meal - specifically a couple of people who haven't family around.

I just don 't feel that is enough though - so I would welcome other ideas too.

There is our neighbourhood "crazy cat lady" a street over so I thought I could make an anonymous drop off of cat food and litter for her.

This has happened every year I have been here - and has happened once even one summer out of the blue.

"God bless us, eveyone" as Tiny Tim said.

I also got an unexpected notice of a "credit memo" going into chequing account (of an overpayment from my property tax account being returned to me.)

It is going to be an unexpectedly nice Christmas for my kids (who will benefit from THAT)

Some days nice things DO happen - beginning with a lovely phone call fropm Doug & Bill in B.C.

I was feeling a bit out of sorts too, because my Mum is not going to be home this Christmas - instead my brother (a sailing skipper) has taken her sailing from the U.S. Virgin Islands for something she has never done before.

What a cool gift for them both, to make such a wonderful set of memories together at this time of her life. I envy him that. icon_smile.gif

(He has been a sea-farer for much of his life, sailing all over the world. This is his first excursion from U.S. territory however.
